Arrived around midnight, could hardly get in the door for smokers on the steps. No one on reception and then were told that the room we had booked was not en suite for the 1st night but then we could change rooms the following day ( we had booked for 3 nights). Shown to room but within minutes we were... More

hallo, I'm Lisa and I came from Sorrento in Italy. I stayed in Shieling Hotel for three day this October, I found it very cute. It is located in the village of Raheny at 15 minutes to Dublin, there is the bus stop in the front of the Hotel. There are a lot of bus to Dublin center and to... More

Ok, so it's not the most luxurious hotel you'll ever come across (expecially in Dublin!) but it's a 2* hotel at a really reasonable price. When all you need is somewhere clean and friendly to sleep, what more do you really need? If you have a car it's great as there's free parking, if not there is a bus into... More

After reading the reviews about the sheiling, we had decided it was only for one night and so what if it was like fawlty towers"! The hotel was absolutely fine, yes can be a little noisey, but not all night and although i had a creeaky bed, we slept like logs! Bathroom was fine, and not being particularly small framed,... More

The Shieling is not a great hotel, but somewhere to rest your head in a village that makes a good out of town base for visiting Dublin. Its location on the DART (suburban train) line makes it perfect for trips in to the city centre and out to coastal villages like Malahide and Howth. It is not "unscenic", contrary to... More

... as the locals might say. The Shieling is a bit like Fawlty Towers but get a grip people - quick reality check required. It's a 2 star hotel... and "hotel" carries the meaning of "pub" to some extent in Ireland; this is basically a pub with a few rooms. It is exceptional value for a hotel in a capital... More

We arrived at midnight and the reception was open as was the bar, staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms pleasant and clean. Breakfast was cooked fresh every morning. It is a bit further from the centre than we would have liked but the bus stopped just outside and was a ten minute ride into the centre. Overall we thought... More

We stayed nearly a week at the Shieling Hotel. All staff members were very friendly and always available. The room was very comfortable, a small TV set invited to watch TV. We appreciated the hotel's proximity to the bus stop (right in front). The DART is also in walking distance. We would stay there, again. More

We would not have chosen to stay in the middle-of-nowhere suburbs of Dublin. but, the week-end was hosting the Gaelic football finals in town. There was NOT one reasonably-priced hotel room available! So, our other mediocre hotel in town recommended this "sister" hotel. We should have been warned! The reception desk area included an odd couple sitting nearby tearing paper... More

We just returned from a trip to Dublin and stayed at the Shieling Hotel. All in all, I'd say it was just "okay". The few things that really bothered me were: Firstly, the reception closes (although they claim it is open 24hrs) by 10:30 PM (read "early") and there's a bell there that you can ring all you want, and...
