This was a wonderful surprise. The registration is in the gift shop area. The lodge is about a block away. So, this leaves the lodge lobby tranquil & uncluttered. The Lodge has a main floor sitting area with fireplace and games, everything is made from wood from that area. The rooms were wonderful! Quaint, homey, and very clean, no musty... More

The Lodge was clean and very basic but what we expected. As others have said the walls are thin! But they do give you earplugs and they post "quiet time from 9pm to 8am" and folks honored it. The restaurant was some of the best food we had and the service was fantastic. Sunday is prime rib night and it... More

we drove from LA to King's Canyon and entering via route 245, arrived at the reception around 6pm. The staff was very pleasant and gave us very clear direction in going to the lodge which was about a minute away by car. we were given the room on the ground floor at the end of the corridor where there was... After being sent on a wild goose chase searching for lodging at places that weren't even opened yet for the season, we ended up back at the John Muir Lodge at 10pm and thanks to Catherine at the front desk, we were shown the kind of hospitality that doesn't exist anymore. We were given the last room that they normally... More

The lodge is clean and well-furnished. We have a room on the 2nd floor: king size very comfy bed, small sofa, table and two chairs and a modern bathroom. There's a nice porch at the end of the hall and a convenient ice machine. We are in walking distance of the restaurant, market and gift shop. Since there are few... More

Context: 3 night stay in Sequoia National Park for hiking Pros: Close to hiking locations Good restaurant Cons: Poor accomocations Unhelpful staff: any kind of request is taken as an inconvenience. Front desk staff need to learn some manners. Noisy Typical national park "motel" with a monopoly on accomodation in the area (or should I call it a "concession") Thank... More

The place was clean and looked new. The staff was pleasant in ever building we entered (grocery store, gift shop, hotel lobby...) The restaurant was great. Brittney and Lindsie went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Food was very good, but not even close to Cajun. Ordering the "Cajun" special was bad judgment on our part (your... More

There was hair on our pillows and in our sheets, stains in the carpet and furniture. It was so noisy when we entered our room the room next door thought we were knocking on their door. You could here conversations through the walls, I guess the complimentary ear plugs right when you walk into your room should have been our... More

Missed out staying at the lodge, however found the restaurant hands down the only real food service in the park ( see other posts). The staff was friendly and efficient. Had a birthday dinner that was good food, great service and priced appropriate for the location. Burgers, pasta, chicken sandwich and fried chicken were good hearty food. The kids menu... More

The John Muir Lodge does exactly what it says. Clean, quiet and functional rooms with access to the restaurant/cafeteria and store at the Village and a lovely communal lounge with a welcoming fireplace. You will have come for the Sequoias and here you are surrounded by them as far as the eye can see - majestic, rising high into the... More
