Go to Colter Bay instead. Lizard had some of the worst bathrooms I've seen at a campground. No showers either. Scenery was great but that was about it. My suggestion is if you're visiting Yellowstone camp in Yellowstone and if you're visiting Teton camp in Colter.

I chose this location for its easy access to Yellowstone, lower elevation (warmer at night), and great views next to the lake. We arrived on a Wednesday mid afternoon in late August, and were surprised that half the sites were taken. Most of the sites at Lizard Creek Campground are great - adjacent to the lake or adjacent to the... More

Lizard Creek is the northern most CG in the park. It's also the quietest. Many of its sites are practically on the water. The views are great. Drift wood is plentiful for camp fires. A mother grizzly and her cub were rumored to be in the area, but I never saw them. All encounters with them had been peaceful.

I've lived and worked in the area for several years. This is my campground of choice. You're to the north of the Teton range, so the view isn't the panoramic view, however, you're right on the lake, it's a quiet campground, and you're away from the bustling of the park, but close enough to easily dip down to Colter Bay... After 4 nights in Yellowstone, Lizard Creek was the quiet escape from reality my family was looking for! We will dream of coming back to this campground. The only disappointment was no dish sink and the bathroom sinks had faucets that would not work for dish washing. (Faucet to low to the sink" If you want peace and quiet................. this... This campsite was lovely, spots are secluded and have plenty of space between campers. Great to wake up to birdsong. Jackson lake is nearby a short walk to get there but not the best view of it. Its a first come, first served booking system (no pre-booking). Excellent value at about £15 a night. (We were in an RV and... More

After all the positive Jenny Lake Campground reviews, we were going to make that our home for a few nights before heading out to the backcountry. When we drove around Jenny Lake Campground, we couldn't understand what all the glowing reviews were about. Only a few sites had Teton views and it looked crowded with small sites. We took the... We returned to Lizard Creek campground on June 20th, 2009,for the second year in a row. Other than a different site, the experiance was as good if not a little better than last year. Coming in three weeks earlier meant a whole lot less people. The camp hosts were even better than the folks last year. Again we camped lakeside.... More

I loved this place. The facilities were clean and functioning (running water, flush toilets, no showers). The campsite was private enough and the staff was friendly. The views of Lake Jackson from the campground were tremendous, I plan on staying here again. The only downside was a layer loose dirt on the camp site,
