I enjoyed this hotel but mainly because of the room. From hotel reviews of the rooms, I had low expectations. I reserved the Manager's Suite for one night as our splurge on our vacation. This suite was much more spacious than I thought it would be. It has two comfy queen beds, a mini-fridge/wet bar and living room. The room... More

We stayed in the El Tovar suite at the El Tovar lodge. It is a two room suite with a king size bed and a sitting room. The sitting room had two leather chairs and a desk. Both rooms were small. There was also a nice private bath. The best feature of the suite is the balcony that overlooks the... More

We stayed for a couple of nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was upstairs, and whilst it didn't have a view of the Canyon, was pleasantly furnished, of a decent size and was clean and comfortable. The cocktail bar was well located, with an outside deck overlooking the Canyon, and service was friendly and attentive. We dined in the... More

I don't get why this hotel is such a big deal. We booked at the last minute (4 hours before arriving!) and had the option of the Maswik Lodge or this one and I fell for the hype of the "historic" El Tovar. The "terrace" room was more like a basement room that overlooked the parking lot. At about $200... More

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The hotel itself, the food, people, and especially the location are excellent. My wife and sons want to go back. Make sure to try the breakfasts - they are wonderful! This is a lodge and if that's what you are into, you will really enjoy it.

We were a little apprehensive of what to expect from our run of the house room having read some previous reviews. We needn't have been. It was small by American standards and expensive compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip, but we had a nice side view of the Canyon from our bedroom window, a very large... More

I love the old grand hotels and this being an original Harvey House puts in on the top of that list. If you are staying at the Grand Canyon the location doesn't get any better then this. Service, wonderful as always and the dining room is surprisingly good when you consider where you are. (My friend felt the filet was... More

You're almost captive for restaurant choices when staying here. We were staying at Bright Angel cabins but decided to enjoy a nice dinner at historic El Tovar dining room one night. Very disappointing! My wife ordered the pork chop and I ordered the buffalo rib eye. Both seemed to be a pretty safe bet. My "steak" was like eating the... More

We chose El Tovar because of some negative reviews of other places in the canyon park. We were satisfied. The very first thing we had to request was for someone to unblock the sink in the bathroom, and this was handled immediately. We had another problem, which was that there was a repetitive tapping sound in the wall by the... More

Full of old world charm the El Tovar is the place to be. Wooden constuction with original facilities it is a great place to be. But book early (12months in advance) and make a restuarant reservation (6 months in advance). The service from staff is only exceeded by the stunning views. Drinks on the terace at sunset are a must,
