I stayed 2 nights at the Bright Angel campground in late April. It was unseasonably warm, the high was 100 on the second day at the campground. It is first come, first served, and the shade comes and goes and comes during the day. Most of the campground has plenty of shade though. There are places to hang your backpack... More

On a Rim to Rim hike from the North rim to the South rim, we set up at Bright Angel Campground the second night after being warned by Boris and Natasha (really) about some ants in one of sites we were considering. We wandered over to Phantom Ranch and cleaned up in the hot water and checked out the Canteen,... More

Hiked from S. Kaibab to Phantom Ranch in about 5.5 hrs with Boy Scout troops. Camped in 1 of 2 group sites. Once site has 3 covered spots where the ringtailed critters hang out and steal food from packs that you can hand under the overhang. The sites sit in between the two restrooms so the one near the bridge... More

This is part of R2R hike going from North to South. Got to the campground around 2 - 3 p.m. and it was pretty hot! Water and bathrooms there and Phantom Ranch not to far away. Bright Angel Creek runs by and we all went in for a dip to cool off! Many folks wake up early, about 4 a.m.... More

This was the first backpacking trip for my sister and I. Thankfully my husband was with us and had done this before. We were at the Bright Angel Campground for 2 nights. The campground is along Bright Angel Creek and near the Colorado River. It is also 1/2 mile from Phantom Ranch. Our campsite was nice. It's first come, first... More

Bright Angel Campground is right near Phantom Ranch located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The view is awesome and well worth the hike. We were able to set up tent right on the Bright Angel Creek, where cottonwood trees line its shores. The only drawback was that the water line in the Canyon broke the day before our... More

Made this our second stop during a 3-night/4-day hike into the Canyon. After spending the first night on the Tonto Plain we spent a very relaxed night at Bright Angel. We arrived on a very hot day and after spending about 30 minutes hydrating ourselves we found a great spot right next to the creek. We quickly set-up our gear... More

The Bright Angel campground was the first stop on our trip which I really fell in love with. It runs right a long side a stream that flows into the Colorado River. People would wade in the water to cool off and relax after a day of hiking, rafting, or just lounging around. It also has a building with an... More

Whether you are hiking down the South Kaibab, the North Kaibab or the Bright Angel trails your goal is the green delta created by the Bright Angel Creek as it enters the Colorado. Tucked away in the back is the Phantom Ranch. Spread out along the creekside is the campground. You must have and display a permit to camp here,... More
