I stayed 2 nights at the Bright Angel campground in late April. It was unseasonably warm, the high was 100 on the second day at the campground.
It is first come, first served, and the shade comes and goes and comes during the day. Most of the campground has plenty of shade though. There are places to hang your backpack...
