My husband and I took the mule ride to Phantom Ranch. It was absolutely one of the most memorable travel experiences that we have ever had and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering it! Staying at Phantom Ranch gave us a completely different perspective of and appreciation for the Grand Canyon. The accommodations are basic, but clean,... More

I just recently stayed at the Bright Angel Campground and it was so nice to be able to walk to the Canteen at Phantom and get lemonade or iced tea (with ice!) as well as get dinner and breakfast there. It was served all at once by 1 person and it was all family style. There was a ton of... More

Wonderful experience. Group of eight seniors hiked down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel. Going down six hours and up about seven and a half. No rush, took loads of pictures. We went in April and heat was extreme at the bottom. Take plenty of liquids and fuel replacements. Ranch was an real oasis for a group of tired and... More

Phantom Ranch is one of those rare magical places that you only dream about. Book it in the off season. Less visitor use. Stay a minimum of two nights. We were there when the Cottonwoods were just beginning to leaf out. Joanie (Phantom Ranch manager) and her staff are exceptional! Those people want to live and work at Phantom Ranch.... More

If you can get 2 nights here, do it! But book early. I had a 4 week window so thought I would be safe only booking 4 months in advance. There was only one night available in all of March at this point! The lady that runs the place is great. The ranger presentations are really cool. She gets so... More

Spent 2 nigths at the Ranch in the middle of March. It was everything that I thought that it would be and more. The staff was very helpful. The ranger presentations were great. - they give them twice a day. If you have time hike to Ribbon Falls. it's a fairly easy 5 mile hike and the falls are awesome.... More

I really started planning this trip in January 2011 and we completed our journey on April 1st, 2012! I'll try to give information that may not have been covered fully in other reviews: Dorms: 5 sets of bunk beds. Sink and mirror in main room. Only outlet is by the sink. Be courteous and remove your device as soon as... More

The leave a review of the Ranch would not do it justice. It is obviously a fabulous and most unique destination. The food, service, and people are incredible. Proper planning Getting to and from the ranch will make your journey that much more memorable. First bring lots of water. We went in February and the water station at the top... More

They assign your rooms and they are cabins with bunk beds. I would bring ear plugs. Get the meals they are excellent and very generous. The Beef stew was amazing! Very peaceful, a great way to experience the bottom of the canyon. Bring a deck of cards to play at nighttime or a game. Also, its not very well lite... More

Have done many R2Rs under some adverse and some of the best conditions. Phantom Ranch has always been @ the top of their game. Never had the steak dinner 'cause the stew is great. Anyone that has a bad review most likely didn't want to go in the first place. Do your part by braving the trails and they take... More
