The Backcountry Lodge will be your favorite part of your trip, but you won't notice until you've left. It was quiet, beautiful, and not crowded. Something you don't find once you're back in the tourist trap at the entrance to Denali National Park. We read the negative reviews before we left, and here's what we have to say: Yes, there... More

Stayed there in August of 2012. Loved it! Extremely friendly staff who not only serve wonderful food but also coordinate a very nice variety of activities for all ages and interests. The entire staff come out to greet us as we pulled in and made us feel welcome. The cabins were very nice and the main lodge was like a... More

This being my first trip to Alaska, I wanted to experience Denali as more than a "day" tourist. The bus ride back to the Lodge was very educational; as the driver provided historical and educational information about the park and wildlife. Denali Backcountry Lodge is amazing! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the guided hikes were excellent! I highly... More

The lodge was what we expected. Not a lot of modern amenities but we didn't expect them. No WiFi, Phone service, Power from a generator, etc. The rooms were furnished consistent with a wilderness lodge but comfortable. The price included all meals and they were excellent including buffet breakfast and lunch and a full served sit down dinner. The meals... More

My good friend and I have been planning a photography trip to Denali National Park for some 10 years now. Well, last September, it was time to put up or shut up so, we contacted Karen and Heather at Alaska Denali Tours and booked our 4-night stay at Denali Backcountry Lodge. I wish I could remember all of the names... More

It takes a while to get to the Backcountry Lodge but it's worth it. If you go, don't go with the minimum stay of 1-2 days ... opt for an additional day. If you have 2-night stay, the first day you will arrive too late to do anything other than dinner and unpack and after your 2nd night, you'll be... More

Our weather was only so-so, also, but did not hinder our appreciation for the beauty of the country side. The ride into Denali was glorious with plenty of stops and Pete certainly gave us a lot of information (and chocolate chip cookies). The cabins are clean and comfortable. We were not on the river and I would spend the extra... More

The Denali Backcountry Lodge tries hard to make its guests’ trips to Denali perfect. The management of the Lodge is relatively new, so some of the older TripAdvisor Reviews may be less relevant. The food was very good. The staff was competent, eager and able to help with anything. The bus driver and hike guides were quite knowledgeable about nature... More

Josh from RochesterNY is spot on in his review of the Denali Backcountry Lodge. Despite having so-so weather, we, too, had an amazing experience there. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the meals tasty and ample. We had great hikes with guides Mikey, Chris, and Timmy, all of whom were very knowledgeable and fun. Such beautiful scenery and... More

We were booked into the Denali Backcountry Lodge by through the Alaska Railroad Tour group and had no idea what to expect. The rooms were very nice, the food was great - and served family style which gave us the opportunity to converse with fellow travelers, and the staff was fabulous. What we particularly liked was that they had a... More

Chris P, Thank you very much for your time in reviewing the lodge. Whether guests go hiking in the backcountry wilderness of Denali National Park or sit quietly at the water’s edge of Wonder Lake, the lodge provides a tranquil escape. Wildlife sightings, Northern Lights, wildflowers, and wide open tundra beckon guests to explore, discover, and experience this treasure of... More
