A very friendly, helpful and accommodating couple Shirley and Vince are great hosts. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast sustained us until evening! As we were looking for family roots Shirley was able to lend us a book on the local school and refer us to the museum in Kirkudbright which has lots of local records.

Friendly welcome, immaculate room, very good breakfasts, nice location - one would have to be very nit-picky indeed not to rate The Borgue as "excellent" in every respect. And you can't say fairer than that! Phil

After motoring some 4000 miles and staying at many hotels and B&B`s throughout England Ireland Scotland and Wales, none came close to the ambience and friendliness that Vince and Shirley have established at the Borgue Hotel. Lovely people, nothing too much bother. Lovely comfortable room with every little thing thought off. Lovely location with plenty of suggestions of walks to chose from. Lovely generous breakfast. Pretty little pub and garden area. Viking the dog has the worlds waggiest tail, a lucky find for us and our dog. Can't recommend it enough.

We stayed over for a friends wedding and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. We arrived at 10am and we were allowed an early check in so were able to get ready on time. The renovation of the B&B has just been completed and all rooms are extremely comfortable with modern ensuites. Perfectly situated to explore Kirkcudbright and the beautiful surrounding area of Galloway. The owners are lovely and will bend over backwards to accommodate your requirements. I only live an hour away but will return here when I need some R&R.

Amazing place. Vince and Shirley made you really welcome and offered a first class service for an extremely low price. Will definitely go again and recommomend to others. They hosted a special family event and catered for 20 the standard was comparable many top class hotels we have stated at.
