If you are planning to tour the mainland, I can recommend making Rafina your first night in Greece. (Save doing Athens until the end) It is conveniently close to the airport. It makes a restful start to what can be a tiring tour schedule. It is also well placed for you to take in Brauron, Marathon and the Amphiarion before...

Only a few minutes walk from the hotel to the ferry port. Bus stop outside to airport and Athens.
Rooms small and included breakfast good. Cost of stay very expensive.

Lobby is impressive compared to the rooms. Rooms were just ok. Bathroom was ok, dated, and no shower curtain or glass.
Air conditioning was placed right over the bed, so you either froze with it...

First stop on our 2011 Island Hopping trip. Booked this hotel after despite some less than great reviews on Tripadvisor. Had to really as there seems to be a shortage of hotels in Rafina, despite this port being described elsewhere, as Greece's second most important port.
We drove past the Avra on the bus from Athens airport, got off the...

We booked a one night stay on the 10th June, 2011 in the Avra Hotel - it was the last night of our holiday and we decided to book a Premier room with a sea view the website showed a lovely room with front seaview so we paid top rate. I let the hotel know it was our wedding anniversary...
