We stayed 2 nights at Araras. The accommodations were basic (but relatively comfortable), the food was surprisingly good, and we really enjoyed our guide. The Pantanal is a unique ecosystem and we are lucky to be able to experience it. Our only complaint was with Pantanal Explorer, the booking agency used by Araras. They were extremely disorganized. They failed to... More

The pantanal is what would result if you put a bunch of ten year olds in a room and told them to create a landscape. Caimans alongside cows and capybaras. Cactus alongside palm trees. Howler monkeys and 6 ft storks. Truly an amazing place, and Araras is situated in the perfect location to see all this wonderland has to offer. More

We stayed 3 nights at Jaguar Ecological Reserve (which I could not find listed on TripAdvisor, but it should be) and 3 nights at Araras Lodage. Jaguar Ecological Reserve is all about doing everything possible to see animals. Araras Lodge is more focused on activities and if you happen to see animals while doing the activities, that is good. It... More

The Araras lodge exceeds expectations - it is surrounded by nature and yet a part of nature. It is clear that a great deal of time and passion has gone into making this a lodge with a purpose. One which sets an example to those wishing to achieve a sustainable existence in a fragile environment. They have parrot/macaw release programs... More

I had a wonderful 4 nights in late September 2011 at Araras Echo Lodge in the northern Pantanal in Brazil. The place is for sure ahead of other lodges around, in more than one way. I don't know where to start...for example, the owner (Andre) has a long history of preservation effort, taling to him is so rewarding you wouldn't... More

Spent 5 days here and found it exceedingly friendly, well organised and generally everything we wanted. Rooms and of a good standard for this kind of place, the food is plentiful and excellent, the area around the lodge is fantastic. Activities are well run and well timed. If you want to relax but do some exploration and wildlife spotting then... More

The ARARAS ECO LODGE set in the heart of the Pantanal offers superb viewing of Birds, Monkey, Capibara, Caimen, Snakes and much else. Available with horse riding and swimming pool, plus good dining it is a wonderful stop en route to the road end and PORT JOFRE. This is another imortant Lodge, viewing by power boats and is the only... More

Before writing this, I had a look at the other reviews posted, good and bad. I have to say, I was surprised by some of the assertions in the negative reviews, and I'll try to provide some counterpoint. We had a 3 day stay at the Araras lodge, before moving onto the Amazon for a Kayak trip. It was thoroughly... More

Traveled to Brazil for a conference in Salvador, and decided to vacation in the Pantanal beforehand. My husband and I are both biologists, and have always wanted to visit the Amazon and initially thought we would do that, but everyone we knew who had been to Brazil recommended the Pantanal instead as the place to see the fauna. The lodge... More

We have been my wife and I to Arara for 4 days and 3 nights. It is a place of excellence: nothing luxurious but everything comfortable and clean, guides and personnel dedicated to the client, a natural unsophisticated food, a wonderful environment in the middle of nowhere. Being in Arara you are in the middle of the nature, surrounded by... More
