We stayed at coconut beach for 4 nights and couldn't fault the room. The bungalows (700 b) are ok but we opted for a room (1300b) in the main building and I was pleased to find a bath, often only get showers in Asia. We where very pleased with our choise of stay in Lamai. The hotel is run by a family and the atmosphere is really relaxed and safe. Classic example of Thai son taking over the family business after university, except he knows NOTHING about running a resort. The hotel pricing for the bungalows is ridiculous, the hotel rooms are way overpriced. The pool can only be used by bungalow people for a fee-but who wants to walk on 100 degree platform. Found this hotel, had a look at the hotel rooms - very nice, however expensive and smelt a little like sewage. So we had a look at the 'beachfront huts'. All we are going to say is that there was a dead rat in the bathroom and it was literally a derelict shed - no other way to describe it. More

With many good hotel options in Lamai, Coconut Beach Resort doesn't really stand out. At $50, it's priced higher than cheaper similar options for the low budget traveller. This was perfectly located. It gave you the choice. You could relax and chill by the beach or you could party hard and walk into town for a bucket of vodka redbull and hit up the numerous bars and clubs. Theres a huge choice of restaurants around, but for me I liked the street vendors as they were super cheap... More
