We stayed here for 2 nights as part of the 'lazy threesome' tour from Awesome Adventures. We stayed in the dorm, which was very very hot. It was very basic and looked like an evacuation centre. Luckily there was only me, my friend and one other guest staying in the dorm at the time but I imagine if it was... More

Where to start. Ok, me and my partner were here for a few nights, -praise God!- not the entire stay in Fiji, and I'm glad we had spent the first half of our trip elsewhere. The one, single thing going for this place is the beach and snorkelling. But they're not alone, because Blue Lagoon is next door and also... More

The location of this resort is excellent with nice beach and a good swimming area right in front of lobby and excellent coral reef of either side of the swimming area. Some excellent coral and lsnorkelling right of the beach. The cooks provided good meals for the clients. One skinny young fellow that worked as server ( I think his... More

This was by far the worst place we stayed during our months travels around Fiji. Where to start? The staff are rude , the accomodation poor. We got electric shocks off the shower which they did nothing about ,so after 3 days we left.To say the food was like school dinners would be an insult to school dinners. It was... More

When you see the flyer of Oarsman's it all looks very nice. When you arrive there, you start to wonder when the pictures were taken. 15 years ago? The place is a bit run down. But they have a very nice beach so you can get over that. But the second down side is that they always run out of... More

This place is owned and run by the local Village chief which is great as the money goes back into the village and it provides employment for a lot of the island residents BUT... as super lovely as the staff are, they need to lift their game when it comes to customer service. Ive travelled to poorer parts of the... More

We have just returned from a short stay at Oarsmans Bay Lodge. The location is wonderful but... There are serious problems with this resort. Where to begin?... Most of the problems stem from the fact it is managed by the local island chief. While that may seem quaint, ethical or "authentic", the fact is the chief runs this place as... More

Oarsmans Bay is owned and run by the Chief of the local village and his family. That means that by staying here you are directly benefiting the local Fijian people as all profits from the resort go to the community. The majority of other resorts are 'foreign' owned and only a proportion of profits go to local communities. That means... More

Oarsman’s is the Fiji you really want to see. This isn’t a five star resort, it’s a village backed resort owned by the chief of the village. It’s not fancy, but it does have everything you’d need in a vacation (including hot showers in the bures). The lagoon is enormous and allows for excellent snorkeling from the front step of... More

Where to start? Well, the Oarsman’s Bay Lodge, located on a powder-soft brown-sugar sand beach with hammocks strung out between the trees at the water’s edge, children-safe beach/swimming right out front, great swimming right out front and colorful coral reefs teaming with fish life both to the right and left edges of the lodge, belt-busting meals served fresh, 3 X...
