Nothing but praise for the garden setup, the old almost medieval charms of the palace walls and corridors (kind of supercharged Riad), the friendly staff. And the nice main pool, despite some maintenance problems with a pigeon plague. Restaurant was a bit more mixed: quite limited B'fast, decent dinner, but constant pestering by a crowd of begging cats. Our 'patio... More

The Hotel Palais Salam is created out of old Colonial buildings, so the architecture, mood and detail of the buildings is like stepping back in time. There are seats around fantastically detailed decoration, plus lost of little hidden places and guest rooms opening onto planted courtyards with old water features. Beautiful. The rooms however are a little tired. My room... More

Having just arrived back from Hotel Salem in the early hours of Sunday 18 September I felt a feeling of having left my home. The Hotel Salem is a wonderful place full of history and culture if a little shabby looking. This all adds to the charm of it and the people are full of caring to ensure that your... More

The hotel has an excellent location, built right into the old city walls. It is a spacious, sprawling collection of old buildings in traditional style, interspersed with courtyards, ponds, pools, gardens, staircases, alleys, and sundry other nooks and crannies. The feel is almost like being in a small village. Anybody interested in botany will find the lush, mature plantings worth... More

A beautiful hotel, idyliic setting but all rather needing an uplift.Three swimming pools but you had to organise your own chair to lie on as they were all stacked away and no towels provided, appalling service int he restaurant a really irritating waiter who somehow reflected in his manner what is wrong with this hotel. he was rude and unhelpful and... The hotel is located in the kasbah, but the entrance is on the outside wall, with parking outside. As you enter, you leave the bustle of Taroudant and enter an oasis of calm. The courtyard area is delightful, running water, tables under the massive palms, lesser kestrels flying around. 2 pools but too cold to swim when we were there.... More

After being locked out of the hotel that we had pre-booked and already checked in to, namely the Riad Taroudant, The Palais Salam offered us a safe haven on a cold and increasingly frustrating night. Not only did they take pity on our lack of accommodation (no other hotel in town would accept us as our passports were locked inside... More

I felt safe - slept soundly to the sound of bird song and kitten meowing ... just like home. This Hotel is full of artficacts that dazzle the senses. We enjoyed the 'targines' immensely and the lovely breakfasts - and sateen draped tables of Indigo and Gold with matching serviettes. The Staff - I would gladly take home 99% of them...... More

We stayed here on the last night of our 10 night tour around Morocco. The rooms were very Moroccon but really was not my sort of thing, it felt like being in a Church with extremely high painted ceilings, stained glass lampshades and really dark wooden furniture. The mattress was rock hard, not a good nights sleep! As we were... More
