This upscale friendly hostel is right on the beach. Clean, comfortable, with a friendly staff and very affordable happy hour! Reasonably priced breakfasts and dinners offered too. Only stayed one night but would loved to have had more time there.

I did a two-day volcano hike with Quetzaltrekkers in Leon (which was great!), then immediately treated myself to a relaxing night at the Las Penitas beach (only 20km from the city of Leon). I was planning to only stay one night, but I had such a great time relaxing in the hammocks that i ended up staying for three!

My teenage son and I had a fantastic time at Quetzal Playa. It was well appointed and had knowledgeable and gracious staff.
