Filled with the awe and thrill of a 3 km downhill night-trek through the forest reserve on the graceful moonlit night of Dec 24th.; we were greeted with a hearty dinner, a friendly bonfire and warm and cozy rooms to spend the night, when we finally reached the village. We woke up the next morning only to be graced by... More

We went to Idyllic heaven in December 2012. The other hotels were costly specially KMVN and we had budget in mind. I assure there cannot be anything better than Sundar Singhs hospitality and food compared to the price. The stay there was in simple awesome. Starting from small treks in and around village, staying in the jungle until dusk, waiting... More

… It starts with a 3KM downward trek from KMVN, Binsar, it’s a rocky 1.5 ft wide mountain pathway with a stiff serpentine slope. Last 1KM near the village is fairly easy … still if it is 1st time trek then get ready for surprises … Sundar Singh is owner’s son and is an excellent guide. Gaunap is a small... More

We stayed at 2 different villlages- Kuldhara and Gaunap. Both had great views, great food, the villages were nice, clean with plenty of fresh air, good walks, forests around them. There's no electricity,so charge your batteries ahead. And ofcourse you need to be fit. And dont forget to tell them how much luggage you have,so that adequate number of porters can be sent. A good... More

We had an excellent stay at Idyllic Haven. The hospitality was beyond expectations and food was superb, particularly the yoghurt... It was a unique experience... staying in a village home with buffalo, cows, goats, dogs and cats ... giving us company apart from the ever-smiling faces of Mr Narayan Singh and his wife JankiDevi.. their son Sunder Singh accompanied us... Very glad to know that you had an excellent stay at our place. Thank you so much for the valuable feedback. Apologies for the little inconveniences. I am afraid we can't do much about the room sizes. We are working on the other suggestions though - solar water heater, shelves etc. We will look forward to hosting you again! More

An excellent and real village homestay. Very comfortable rooms and good hosts. The food was right from over the stove and the coal and gas burners got us through the cold winters. The village gaunap itself is so enchanting- the forests around, the birdlife and the views of the himalayan ranges from the temple just 10mins away. Just one tip- if... More

Idyllic Haven is a lovely home-stay in the heart of Binsar forest, near Almora, Uttarakhand, India. I chanced upon this homestay at indiamike.com. The USP of the place is that it is in the middle of nowhere, far away from crowded and noisy cities of India. The panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, spanning from Garhwal, all the way to...
