A stop Taihape was necessary to avoid the Desert Road at night. After visiting a rather grim looking hotel at the other end of town, we stumbled across the Taihape Motel. Our host, Con ('just call me Conman') met us in the pouring rain, and gave us his best unit for the reasonable price of $70. Little did we know,... More

We always stay overnight at Taihape on our way back from the South or lower north Island. We are working so always arrive late and want buget accomodation. From the first visit the owner greeted us like old friends. After a long drive gives us a glass of wine some chips. Milk for our coffee. packets of Cereal jam, Bread... More

Visited this Motel in Feb 2013. What a great pleasure. Unit was absolutely wonderful. Everything supplied even to a fly spray. People in office very friendly. I would recommend this Resort to everyone who travel to Taihape. Lovely little courtyard at the back with table and chairs for that lovely quiet evening drink. Dinner within walking distance but even to... More

My husband just called to say what an amazing welcoming he has got after a long tired day driving all day at work! Well as a wife and mother of 3 at home, how rest assuring to know that someone is out there looking after my hubby with the good old home comforts of a drink and snacks and comfy... More

Arrived hot and tired but were welcomed as if we were the most important guests. Very comfortable beds and the toast, jams and other goodies were very much appreciated. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to others.

We arrived late after driving up from the afternoon ferry and were welcomed with beer and a glass of wine. Although the motel is old it is comfortable and good value. Free wifi was appreciated too. We would be happy to stay here again.

Our family have stayed here on and off over many years; this been the first time we have returned for a long time. Was still the same ;-) Friendly service on arrival as always. Rooms are basic as is the price to match. Did the three of us well

I've been here about five times now. Instead of staying the night in Taupo going south, I often stay here (it's not that good going North if you want to leave first thing in morning as you could encounter frost, fog, danger on The Desert Road) because it's roughly half the price of a Taupo motel. The owner is a... More

This motel was conveniently located for our holiday plans. The motel was in need of a face lift but was clean and tidy with all the ammenities you could hope for in a budget motel.
