My family of 3 stayed here for one night in Sep 2011. Our primary reason to visit Takachiho was to see the gorge and the Yokagura dance. After splurging for a ryokan at Kurokawa onsen for two nights, we were looking for a more affordable accommodation at Takachiho.

This ryokan surprises you from the moment you enter the door as the outside looks pretty dreary. The receptionist carried our bags upstairs to a well laid out tatami-mat bedroom with adjoining bathroom; the bath had been filled with hot water from the local springs in case we wanted a quick dip on arrival.
