Hayama beach is just a few blocks away. I'm pretty sure the famous "Wave" by Hokusai is a view of Mt. Fuji from this very beach. There's a Starbucks downstairs and a Lawson's (the Japanese 7-11) across the street. The bartender speaks English, and there's a kitschy hot-tub with a nice view.
