Fantastic mixed outdoor baths in a beautiful riverside setting. Ladies can use a bath towel in the mixed baths. Men make do with a teensy white one which barely protects their modesty! But aside from the great baths, there seems to be little else to really get excited about. Food was not great and the staff seemed to be in... More

We booked in on a whim and the weekend was a dream. Beautiful room over the river, a spectacular outdoor onsen, great food... We were lucky enough to arrive in the springtime and then have snow overnight. Unforgettable to soak in the hot water by the river while the snow falls on you. The hotel is quite traditionally Japanese, and... More

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Guests choose Yukata which are provided neatly by sizes on the shelf in the lobby after check-in for use during their stay. Breakfast and dinner are included. There are two choices for breakfast, Western and Japanese. We tried both and they were great. Outdoor Onsen is located in a beautiful natural setting by the creek.... More

We arrived at Minakami Station 2hrs before the 14:45 pick up time. So we went to the Minakamikan Onsen which is open to the public at 13:00. It was a short 20mins leisurely walk from the station. Very clean and beautifully set. Water was hot and smooth. well worth the visit while waiting for the shuttle bus. On arrival at... More

Stayed only 2 nights but the experience was top notch. The food was very good. The room was a traditional Japanese style room. The onsen (hot bathing) experience was as good as it gets. Many hot springs here. The atmosphere is quiet and the whole property is a beautiful nature setting. The staff was friendly. We were picked up at... More

My husband and I were in Japan for the first time. We were there on a flight stop over for just 6 days with our two year old. Staying here was our favourite thing that we did, and probably our favourite thing that we did during our three month Asia trip. This was the only ryokan we stayed at in... More

Convenient and comfortable but expensive place if you want to visit the beatuful Takaragawa Onsen baths, with 24 hour access to the baths. Very nice Japanese dinner and breakfast.

We stayed one night in february following a friends suggestion and we did not regret it! I t was a very nice onsen and riokan experience. We were picked up at the station after an hour's train trip from Tokyo with the hotel's bus. The Riokan is beatifully situated on the banks of the river and when we were there... More

This place is great for everyone who wants to get known to japanese onsen culture and experience staying in a ryokan. The staff is used to foreigners and there are people who can speak english quite good and explain you everything you need to know. We stayed in a japanese style room in the main building which was really nice... More

My husband and I stayed at Osenkaku for one night in July 2010. We absolutely enjoyed the outdoor baths - all 4 of them are beautiful, located on a picturesque riverside and spotless clean. It is also nice that 3 of them are mixed gender, so my husband and I were able to enjoy the experience together! It was not... More
