OK, so this hotel is a colossal monstrous humongous hotel with about 1500 rooms; it definitely needs repair on the inside and on the outside, and new carpets, a paint job, etc. It's not pretty, stylish or cool in any way. The first 12 hours we were there we thought; what is this place?? We are a family of four... More

The room was a bit old but everything was working and clean. The hotel has about 1250 rooms and 20 restaurants and is right in front of the ski slope, so close that from your bed you are just 10 Mn away from a great ski day. There are plenty of restaurants, ski rental outlets, small shops and convenient stores... More

I stayed here for one night as part of a 1 night ski trip and enjoyed it. The resort is directly on the slopes with everything you need for skiing plus onsen. The rooms are small for western standards but perfectly acceptable for the price range during ski season given you are directly on the slopes. I actually found the... More

Conveniently located, 70 minutes from Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa with the Maxi Tanigawa Shinkansen, from where a bus will take you about 40 minutes to the facility. Step outside the door and you are in one of the better ski areas you can find close to Tokyo. Inside however, it is a different story. Came during busy season early January and... More

I made the mistake of visiting this 'hotel' during early December so a little bit too early in the snow season. Certainly an interesting experience, as mentioned in other reviews it certainly feels a little North Korean or even possibly a little like I imagine Chernobyl would be like. Empty, deserted and stuck in the early 1990's! During our stay... More

If you are going to Naeba for skiing, then Prince Hotel is the best place for you. Price-wise it is not cheap (we actually joined an airline package) but all ski resort will charge a premium in winter. However, the hotel has everything for skiiers, from ski rental shop, ski school, souvenir shop, ski wear shop, restaurants and cafes to... More

The previous review suggesting that this is North Korean Disneyland is spot on. I've stayed at the Yanggakdo Hotel in Pyongyang and this is the closest I have ever seen to the Yanggakdo in a developed country. My only caveat is that the Yanggakdo is cleaner and better kept. The Naeba Prince is filthy. The carpets are soiled, the windows... More

What can I say? If they replaced the Japanese signs with Korean Hangul ones they could rebrand themselves as a North Korean Communist themepark hotel..... or maybe as a Youth Hostel! A dump, built ca. 1980 and not one yen spent on maintenance since. Only good points are access from Tokyo and the skilifts in front of the door! Check... More

We stayed at Prince Naeba Hotel for 3 nights last week. We tried to get some room rates and make reservations via the internet a few months ago which proved to be impossible. So we rang the hotel directly and reception told us that the room rates for December would not be available till November which we thought was very... More
