We stayed here on our 4th day of dales way walk. The location is stunning and overlooks a little river and glorious countryside. The room was really nice and looks recently renovated. We had room one and it had lovely views and u could hear the river flowing. The bathroom was seperate but private, again very fresh and new. The... More

Stayed one night while doing the Dalesway walk. Old traditional pub run by a lovely, friendly couple (who must have been away on holiday when the chap with the part of 20 visited!) - fabulous home cooked food - had we been driving home next day instead of walking I would have brought some back with me! Comfy room -... More

Stayed one night on Dales Way walk after long wet day walking from Buckden. Simple country pub in beautiful location next to river Dee. Friendly hosts, comfortable rooms (with separate private bathroom) and good home cooked food and real ale. Yes there's no TV, wi-fi, mobile signal and other distractions and the bath takes a while to fill up. But... More

This old inn is right on the Dales Way. The owners are very friendly and we were given a nice welcome. The rooms are not ensuite, but each room has it's own private bathroom (no shower in ours, but Radox provided). Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The bar does not open until 7pm but there was a well stocked hospitality tray... More

3 of us were walking the Dales Way and were booked into this pub en route. It was a wet and miserable day so we were more than happy to arrive at our abode. The accomodation, decor and facilities are OK (you need 20 mins to run a bath though). Forget about TV, Mobile signal, or Wi-fi none of these... More

We thoroughly enjoyed 2 night stay in June. Bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean, very comfortable, heating and log fires on (yes in June) to dry our wet clothes. Owners very friendly. Had an excellent curry on the first night (we had already arranged to eat elswhere the second night) very good breakfasts, good beer, great traditional old pub.

Good beer, plain well cooked food, great country accomodation. Cannot for the life of me understand the small number of negative comments posted. This is not the Marriot at Heathrow or a city centre Travel Lodge, it is, in my humble opinion, a vert traditional pub doing what old traditional pubs usedto do. They provide clean, warm accomodation, well cooked... More

I visited this pub at the weekend and it was to be the turnaround point for a walk along the Dalesway from Dent and back again with a group of about 20 walkers. We hoped to have a nice pub lunch and a local beer before heading back to Dent but on entering the pub at 1.55pm we were met... More

the landlord is a bit of a comedian & also runs the place for his convenience as much as the customer's... so don't expect service outside the limited opening hours even if you have walked 15 miles. However the room was good & the separate bathroom had a bath which is a real bonus for walkers. Perhaps we chose poorly... More

We popped in for a mid afternoon Saturday beer. We sat out in the garden and went back inside to order a second round of beers only to be told that the pub was now closed as the owners had other duties to attend to ! Can you believe it - we couldn't !
