We spent 5 days at Chonor House this January. It is a lovely Guest House with friendly Tibetan staff. It has a very 'chilled' feel, beautifully decorated, Tibetan rugs, lovely garden. We loved warming ourselves in the sun with a cup of honey, lemon, ginger tea. It was definitely off season with many other hotels seemingly empty but Chonor House... More

I spent 6 nights at Chonor House after a 6 month trip by myself through India. I loved the paintings and took a photo of the couple on the stairwell because it had some universal feeling about it. I had it enlarged and I wake to it every morning . The food was delicious...my favourite was the vegetarian dumpling soup.... More

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Chonor house. Each room in the hotel is different and is beautifully decorated. This gives that extra 'wow' to your stay..besides the usual comforts.. clean ,airy rooms, nice bathrooms and good location. If you, like my wife, have a thing for paintings and artefacts you will not want to step out of... More

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at the Chonor House. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated with painted murals of Tibetan scenes. The staff was very friendly and accomodated all our requests. The mattress was a tad too hard for our taste so they quickly added a top mattress, no issue. Perfect location near the main Tibetan complex, temple... More

I stayed at Chonor House while attending a seminar on climate change with the Dalai Lama. I was in the Tibetan birds room which had lovely murals and views from the balcony. Loved the dawn with sounds from the temple. I would recommend it highly and suggest the following to other guests. The traditional beds can be hard...I doubled up... More

The best place to stay in McLeod. As clean as it gets, great service, friendly staff. I got sick when I was there and they took really good care of me. They made me special soups and ginger got tea and helped me feel bett quickly. Loved staying there. More

Located halfway up a hill, bang opposite the Dalai Lama's temple complex. Great views of Mcleodganj and Dharamshala but not of the dauladhars and the Himalayas, that too only from some rooms. Staff is very nice and friendly, but food definitely needs improvement, very inconsistent, same dish tastes different on two occasions. More

The rooms are delightful but time is taking a toll - the murals and upholstery are showing signs of aging. Unfortunately, as everywhere in India, badly planned (unplanned?!) construction nearby is spoiling the surroundings, so there is less of a feeling of being in nature than before. Enjoy breakfast there, especially the banana bread french toast, but go elsewhere for... More
