One of our favourite places to eat in the world. A real special place to have lunch with the family, beautiful spot and very relaxing. Food always great and plenty of it. The children always chose this which says something as we have to travel a hour each way to get here. Only disappointing thing was I was so full... More

Thank you very much for the kind review, I am thrilled your kids make you come to us and so far, I think the key ingredients for a happy Inn are children, boots, dogs good grub and great wine. Thank you again. Regards Cb More

Great little genuine inn, with the most comfortable of common rooms and a bedroom that really was more of a suite. The bathroom was the most beautiful renovation I have ever seen. We watched the mallards landing on the stream and had a great drink at the bar. The food was good if not perfect, but the service was special.... More

We have been here many times over the years but since last summer, the prices for lunch have risen to an unacceptable level. Today, we had "salmon and haddock fish cakes with saled and gravadlax" . With fish cakes being spelt in the plural, we were sadly dissappointed to receive one small 2" diameter x 2" high fish cake, mixed... More

So sorry you think the fish cake gravalax was too small, it is only meant to be a starter portion, this might possibly be the confusion. Without wishing to be picky, our menu prices have not increased since April 2012. Regards Cb More

Rooms were London priced but needed work done. Shower over the bath would not stop running all night which was like Chinese water torture. Food was good, staff very polite, service very slow. The pub trades on it's reputation and is in a position of natural beauty but standards have slipped. We were there to scatter my Mum's ashes nearby... More

Stayed three nights after originally booking two. We spent one night in Room 3, two in Room 5, and both were wonderful with fantastic views and loads of space, not to mention really great objects to look at in each room. Also appreciated the MP3 player. We loved the relaxed atmosphere - the bar, the restaurant, the reception / wine... More

So glad you had a happy time with us, room 3's bath is just off for a restoration, it's a 98 yrs old, fantastic really, they could make things that lasted then. Thank you again. Regards Cb More

This olde worlde Inn is a fantastic hidden secret in the Trough of Bowland. The food is absolutely excellent and the bar has a superb stock of drinks - beer, wines, spirits - great choice. We had a special day there for my husband's birthday last week arriving for lunch, spending a relaxing time in the bar reading newspapers, magazines... More

Been to the Inn at Whitewell many times over the years and eaten there, but last night I felt that standards are slipping. Upon arrival I asked for a drink with a lemonade mixer - I don't know how to say this but there was no lemonade in the building! Ordered my steak medium rare and asked for a 10... More

Dear Mr T, Quite the contrary, we are always trying to improve things, although running out of pump lemonade is clumsy, we did have organic but it probably wouldn't be a good mixer. Our chips are made here honestly, we just use a cutter to slice them, this just makes them uniform in girth. We should have redone your steak... More

The Inn at Whitewell was recommended and we were not disappointed! Fish pie was laden with fish and not packed out with mash potato - not cheap, but certainly value for money. Try and get a table by the window for a great setting.

The staff in this hotel are wonderful and make every request seem the simplest. Ringing down for tea and coffee (free!) at any time seemed no trouble and the tea was delivered almost before we put the phone down.
