This Hotel deserves the praise others have lavished on it. The Portal restaurant is wonderful and I recommend letting the sommelier choose the right wines for the inventive menus. You will not be disappointed. We also thought the experience was good value even at €68 plus more on top for the wines. This is Spanish food and wine of the... More

We have been visiting this hotel for nearly 10 years watching its transformation under the care of chef, Francis Paniego and his brother Felix. It is an attractive building in a lovely setting in the centre of Ezcaray, a mountain resort in the Rioja. From the hotel there is easy access by foot to lovely walks and bicycle rides in... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in Feb 2012 and had room 212 it was lovely, the bed was huge and really comfy the shower was amazing I couldn't fault this room, so modern and clean. I have to say that I think all the rooms on the second floor were being refurbished and ours was very modern... More

Very nice stay here and I recommend it. The village is very charming : pittoresque, clean, and with quality shops. My room also has an undeniable character. Very old fashioned, the only two modern things are the flat-screen TV and the WiFi. Nevertheless comfortable with a balcony and a lovely view over the church square. On the other hand the... More

We stayed there for three nights and couldn't fault the hotel. The room was comfortable and quiet although perhaps in need of a little updating. The staff were friendly and helpful, the owners made a point of talking to us, wanting to know our impressions and making us feel like really valued clients. We were even shown the kitchens! Talking... More

HOTEL I stayed at this hotel with 8 other friends and was very pleased with the exterior decoration of the hotel, its location within the town of Ezcaray and the general friendliness of the staff. Rooms were clean, and you get a complimentary welcome pack which includes sweets, water and dried nuts and fruit which was nice. The only drawbacks... More

I just spent a sublime 24 hours at Echaurren in Ezcaray, Rioja, Spain. I can say without hesitation that the last day has been the most memorable, and most enjoyable travel experience I've had to date (and I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot in my life). We arrived in the afternoon after a beautiful car ride through Rioja,... More

After spending a few fantastic days in San Sebastian, I didn't know if things could get better. however, Ezcaray and Hotel Echaurren took the cake. The hotel is well maintained, the staff is friendly, and it is a beautiful building. The family running the hotel has owned it for 5 generations, and has kept it up well. The facilities are... More

We spent a week driving around the Rioja region, and specifically went to the town of Ezcaray where Eucharren Inn is located to eat at El Portal, one of the two restaurants inside this family run inn. One is run by the mother , Marisa Sanchez, and the other, El Portal, is run by the son, Francis Paniego; they share... More

Stayed at nearby Parador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Echaurren is a country inn in a pretty mountain town on the fringe of La Rioja with a restaurant that is world class. A mother and son team have created a combination of the best elements of the traditional cusine of Spain with a cutting-edge cusine that marries tradition with... More
