We arrived after driving up country and could not have had a warmer welcome with tea and warm scones at the side of a roaring wood fire. Delightful. The rooms are large, warm and comfortable and the beds difficult to leave. The full scottish breakfast was superb and the attention to detail was perfect. David and Verity are excellent hosts... After a long drive in the pouring rain to be welcomed by a roaring fire, scones and tea was delightful. This B&B is very clean and cosy. David and Verity were the perfect hosts - always there when needed but never intrusive. My only complaint is that the bed was so comfortable that it was difficult to leave in the... More

Gorgeous "Ideal Homes"- type barn conversion with enormous guest lounge and roaring wood burning stove, with binoculars laid out for guests to view the birds on the Solway and a library of interesting books and games, and newspapers. Rooms are lovely, with excellent beds, unusual and generous hospitality trays, massive thick towels and good quality toiletries. The breakfasts are the... More

My husband, 2 month old baby and myself stayed at this wonderful B&B while travelling through Britian on a 5 week holiday and this was the last place we stayed at in Scotland. David greeted us warmly and showed us to our room. Our room was clean and spacious and bathroom light and airy. Beautiful toileties provided in the bathroom... More

We stayed for only 1 night on our way back from the Highlands, and we regretted that we did not stay longer. A warm welcome, complete with tea and cake was served on arrival. We had a lovely room and plenty of living space in cozy surroundings with plenty of original features and great decoration. The breakfast was delicious and... More

Exceptional! What can I say – Tripadvisor you need a 6th circle to award for this lovely B&B five out of five just doesn’t do it justice. We are so pleased we chose to stay at Blackyett Mains the night before our wedding; David and Verity were very thoughtful and accommodating throughout making us feel really special, they gave us... We stayed here for 2 nights while attending a funeral locally. Most comfortable B & B with gorgeous large guests' lounge on the first floor with views over the Solway, and a huge woodburner (lit by our host on our arrival) before he served us tea and warm scones. Comfortable bed and excellent breakfasts with local produce. We would go... More

From the freshly baked scones and tea, a delicious surprise, this proved to be a fantastic stay. David and Verity could not make you feel more at home. The stay was so good we re-booked on our return journey and also availed ourselves of a superb home cooked dinner that we had pre arranged. The room was clean, and very... More
