I had to write an exam in Tokyo at Temple University (Japan campus). I specifically looked for a hotel that was conveniently located for me to take the exam early in the morning. I picked Hotel Fukudaya for the convenience but was wow'd overall. The people working at the reception were all very friendly. I speak Japanese so check-in was pretty smooth but I saw a lot of other foreigners and they could generally communicate in English with them. My room was quite small with tatami floor. I had a large window and my own private access to a toilet. Didn't have a shower in my room, but had access to a bath (you lock it so you have sole access for that period of time). It was pretty cold in Tokyo at that time but the air conditioner heated the (small) room just fine. There are no elevators but they will help you with your luggage if you are staying on the upper floor. They held onto my luggage after I checked out and I came back for it later. I only had them hold onto it for a few hours, but I believe they can hold onto it for even a few days. Can't imagine having to stay here again since it's not the most convenient for tourists and I won't be needing to take the exam again. You have to walk quite a distance from the nearest JR station (uphill too). But it was a very comfortable stay.

Meguro was in the list in our Japan Travel and we decided to stay in this hotel it was affordable and very accessible to popular tourist destinations in the area. The hotel was simple yet clean and you could feel that "warmth" as you enter. The wifi access was good and the good thing about this hotel, it's got a convenience store where you can buy anything you need while you stay there. The staff were very helpful. All in all it was a delightful stay in this hotel.

The hotel staff were gracious and helpful, warmly welcoming us to the property. While the hotel has much to recommend (i.e location, access to transportation and amenities like the public bath, helpful staff, etc.), our only concern was that the room that we had was very damp, making it somewhat uncomfortable. Our travelling companion, however, did not have the same experience with their room. We did use the air conditioning to try to remove humidity from the room, but to little avail. Nonetheless, the property is well cared for, fairly priced, well managed and the public bath was a lovely amenity, particularly after a long day of sight seeing.

A very nice Ryokan Hotel that lets you emerge into Japanese way of living. It is 15 minute walk to the station and has friendly staffs. If you really want to experience Japanese culture try out this hotel. It is worth your money. Will definitely visit again.

Although in Shibuya the hotel is a 15 min walk from the station, on a quiet side, between residential buildings. Friendly staff, basic but clean rooms, furnishings a bit old but well maintained. Somewhat a traditional japanese experience, and a good experience overall for me. Would stay there again.

Nice basic ryokan. Good location, only takes about 10 mins to walk to Shibuya crossing/station. Room was nice and clean. Bathroom was small and basic (as are most bathrooms in Japan). Staff are friendly. Unfortunately no eateries very close by and you need to walk 10 mins to Shibuya.

We wanted to try the tradional ryokan experience.Located in the heart of Shybuya, but entering through a tiny garden already takes you away from the hussle of the big town and gives you a relaxing feeling. Upon arrival you are asked to take off your shoes and leave them in a dedicated wardrobe in the hall. The room is tiny with a fusuma (before which you shoudl leave your slippers), a tatami, futon and rice grains pillow. The owner has been exquisite, when we arrived their payment terminal did not work and we were aked to go the nearest ATM to withdraw cash. He did apologize lots of times (thought it was really not a problem for us)...the same night we found a gift in our room and an apology letter. We were really touched by this little unexpected gesture!!

We stayed 5 nights at the hotel and I can only recommend the place: highly affordable in a good area with excellent transport links (you have to walk about 15 min to get to Shibuya station), nearby convenience stores and restaurants. The room was cleanedevery day - with new bed sheets and towels. The room is very simple in a Japanese style (futon and tatamis) but comfortable if you like this style. We had an en-suite which was very clean and functional too.

This is a simple hotel, about 1,5 km from the Shibuya-junction. But what makes it very good is reasonable pricing of the rooms. Be aware of that several rooms share bath/toilet, and others have own bathroom. They offer both japanese and western style rooms. No fridge. Japanese hot tub on ground floor, for private use. No meals. Nice and polite staff. Family Mart 100 meters from the hotel.
