Reasonably priced, clean, and a great central location. Near the tokyo central train station and there are also many small, fun restaurants in the area. The ginza area is a bit more upscale, so if you are backpacking, it may not be what you are looking for. However, it is a great jumping off point in central Tokyo.

The Monterey Ginza is just a 15 minutes walk from Tokya Station and easy to find without help.
