A cold day in the saddle , its great to have a very genuine warm welcome. Super room with 2 comfy arm chairs to relax in ! The view out of the window was just charming . Across the village green a great village pub with lots of atmosphere & wholesome food . Busy still on a Sunday night.

Mrs Boyle is an excellent B and B host. She is very warm and welcoming. We really liked her. I don't think she is retiring. I would also recommend the hotel opposite for an evening meal. The night we were there they had a lovely coal fire burning.

Stayed one night whilst walking St Cuthbert's Way. Kathleen was very welcoming and our room was warm and comfortable with a decent ensuite. Kathleen booked a meal for us at the pub across the green. Breakfast in the morning was very good and we enjoyed chatting with Kathleen. A great stopover on a walking holiday.

Stayed a night at Cross Keys House whilst walking St Cuthbert's Way. Kathleen made us welcome and we settled into a comfortable bedroom. Breakfast was excellent. At our request, Kathleen had prepared packed lunches for us to continue our journey. She presented these to us with the words "these are on the house because I'm retiring today." Apparently, she wants... More

We hiked into Morebattle in pouring rain, wet, muddy and tired. Kathleen picked us up and brought us to Kirk Yetholm. She dried our clothes for us, and reserved a table at the pub across the square. We were very comfortable and felt very much at home. We spent two nights at Cross Keys. She took us back to Morebattle... More

We had a warm welcome when we arrived, despite being soaking. I think Kathleen is used to it as she whisked our coats away to dry. She managed to fit all 5 of us in comfortably and even booked our evening meal at the excellent pub across the green. Good breakfast and packed lunches. And a very pretty village high... More

This is the second year running I have stayed here as part of a cycling tour. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful location and just across the village green from a very good pub and restaurant. We arrived very wet and left bone dry thanks to Kathleen the owner drying all our wet gear. A godsend.

We have stayed at the Cross Keys many times whilst visiting the Borders of Scotland. Host Kathleen is always friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are spotless. The village is pretty and peaceful, the only noises you are likely to hear are the church bells! Breakfast is delicious with a choice of full English or a lighter option. We have... More

We have walked many a mile and stayed in a multitude of Pubs and Guest Houses whilst completing several long distance walks but we have never been looked after before in the way that Kathleen accomodated us. The last stage of the Pennine Way is notoriously difficult to plan but she sorted it all out for us acting as our... More

We stayed here while walking the St Cuthberts Way. The owner made us feel very welcome even though we arrived very late after a long day walking, the room was clean and spacious with a private bathroom, a comfy bed, biscuits, and even a mat to put muddy hiking boots on. The breakfast was great and the home made chutney... More
