This is not a classical hotel, in fact, the reception, dining room and hotel rooms are strewn all over the tiny mountain village of Santo Stefano, in the heart of the Abruzzi in central Italy. The rooms are the original rooms the peasants lived in when the village was still densely populated - the population has dwindled from over 3,000... More

I had seen several articles over the past several years about Albergo Diffuso and was very curious to experience this hotel and the village of Santo Stefano. As luck would have it, a flight cancellation out of Rome in early March resulted in a 2 day delay getting home to the States, so I figured 'why not?'. About a 2... More

We had spent several days in Italy seeing so much of this beautiful country, we ended our stay at Sextanio Albergo Diffuso and other than one very nice young man who helped with our luggage and the wonderful people who we shared a living area with, I would never come back again. I am not someone who expects much BUT... More

My wife and I spent 3 days here in february , the hotel is gradually restoring this medieval hilltop village . The rooms are a magical mix of soot washed decor from the middle ages and modern finesse such as underfloor heating . Expect no television or phones to reception . The rooms are dark but cosy in a medieval... More

Santo Stefano is about 2hrs drive away from Rome. Beautiful place and the hotel is located right inside one of the most beautiful "Borgo" or castle in Italy. Believe me, my husband and I have travel far and wide but being in one of these Borgo is just amazing. Gives you the feeling of being back in ancient time during... More

We booked this different hotel for 5 days.we were very excited to live this experience.but instead of hospitality of a village or a welcome staff we found the worst service ever.we booked a suite and they gave us a suite with a problem in the heat and the fireplace wasnt work.i was ill and i told them if the heat... It's really like traveling to the past. The Sextantio room called La Bianca, where we stayed, looked like a medieval house of a small family. But, even though it looked old, it was very very comfortable and with ultra modern and stylish furniture and bathtub. It's restaurant called Cantinone was another piece of wonder. I was amazed how it's chef... More

I've just returned home 3 days ago, but i'm still not arrived in this century. Oh - mio - dio ! This place is just so amazing, that it's impossible to describe, it definitely has to be experienced with own eyes. I stayed in the suite 'Le Logette', and even though i have researched quite a lot, and seen a... More

I was in heaven at this hotel. Located in a tiny medieval village the rooms are spread throughout the town- maintaining their original character (stone walls and old furniture) but with heated floors, fireplaces stocked with wood and big bathtubs. In spite of the snowstorm, we were shown our rooms by very friendly staff. Breakfast the next morning was simple... More

We loved our weekend here! The village is great, our room was a dream, we stayed in "La Torre" with a chimney and a Philippe Starck bathtub, absolutely divine and romantic. We discovered Sextantio through an online offer, so we stayed there for € 280 for 2 nights and a dinner. At this price I totally recommend it. The normal... More
