I stayed here with 3 friends for a long weekend exploring the Bordeaux region. We had the duplex family room which is essentially 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom with its own entrance which was absolutely ideal for us. Even though it is only a 2 star hotel this means it is simple and unpretentious rather than low quality. The... More

I stayed here last weekend (28 April2012) and was most impressed with this hotel. Bearing in mind that it is only a two-star establishment and therefore modest and unpretentious, my friend and I were greeted by a nice receptionist and were delighted with the 17th-18th century atmosphere with lovely stone staircase, high ceilings, exposed beams, stone walls and dining-room in a... We stayed here in late september 2011 for one night. It was really lovely, very charming! It was very hot that week so it was nice to have a pool. It was very quiet at that time of year. The chateau is out of town but not very far if you have a car. The room was simple but nice... More

For a family of four adults, we reserved the two story suite with a double down and twins up. The rooms were spacious and airy. The bathroom, with a view of the very nice pool, was reminiscent of that found in a dormitory...huge with lots of dated tiling and not one, but two enormous walk in showers - very clean... More

We found Château de Roques on the internet. The older reviews were very negative, but we learned the hotel changed owners not too long ago. The new owners redecorated and freshened up the place, but unfortunately buying a Chateau is obviously expensive, because our room looked like an Ikea-catalogue. We dined in the restaurant the first evening and did not... More

We had 2 rooms, a charm and a standard for 1 night here, It was a beautiful setting, the gentlemen who checked us in was very helpful and the evening meal was delicious albeit the staff were rather slow in serving you. The rooms were lovely and after the awful hotel we stayed in Spain, it was a welcome relief... More

evening meal good on our arrival on the sunday evening, but quality changed from monday to thursday the standard of cooking declined tramaticly. Friday and Saterday evening meals good again. We were staying demi-pension; bedroom would benefit from a full length mirror. Nowere to relax on a wet day except in the bedroom sitting on the bed as there were... More

This was a wonderful choice for myself and my just-turned-19-year-old daughter. We stayed en route from the Loire Valley to the Basque country. The hotel itself is exactly what you'd expect of a Bourdeux chateau winery. The staff were relaxed and welcoming ("Please! Go have a walk in the vineyards to stretch your legs!") the wine-tasting great fun (part wine/part... More

We arrived at the Chateau on Bastille day after driving 300km and exploring a packed St Emilion and it was a breath of fresh air. The setting is breath taking, of course, but the beauty does not end outside. Our room was quite lovely. We had room #10, a charm room. It was very spacious and even had a little... More

Chateau de Roques although warm and inviting from the outside left us feeling a bit chilly from the lack of hospitality. The staff could take a few lessons on ambiance and warmth from the beautiful fireplace in the dinning room and the charming rooms. Upon arrival they barely spoke to us, leaving us to wonder around the Chateau hoping to... More
