My husband and I recently stayed at Makayla Palms for our honeymoon, and we could not have been happier with our choice. It was the perfect, private, home away from home - exactly what we were looking for! After a long, red-eye flight from LAX, John greeted us with open arms (and lei's!) and whisked us off to Makayla Palms.... More

John & Rachel were amazing hosts. They could not do enough for us which was so very much appreciated. Beer & wine in the fridge, fruit, home baking - yum. Very clean & tidy accommodation. comfortable beds. Lovie, their housekeeper was always cheerful & happy to do any little extra thing for you. So close to the sandy beach &... More

From the the pick up at the airport, to the accommodations, to the snorkeling, Makayla Palms is AMAZING. We were so happy that we picked to stay at Makayla Palms while in the Cook Islands. From when we first met John we knew that we would be taken care of during our stay. He was full of recommendations and helpful... More

The principle of “it is never as good the second time around” just doesn’t apply to Makayla Palms. And the saying “it just keeps getting better” doesn’t apply either because the hosts, John and Rachel have created something special here in the South Pacific, and we say “keep doing what you’re doing and don’t change a thing”!! Our first visit... More

We chose to stay at Makayla Palms as we wanted to be away from the crowds due to our 'childfree' status (actually not sure there are any crowds on Rarotonga!) and were not disappointed. They comprise of 3 properties (2 studios and 1 two bedroom Villa) and as we were a party of two we opted for a studio which... More

Rarotonga and Makayla Palms was one destination that actually superseded our expectations. The beaches are beautiful and the best one really is just in front of Makayla. We appreciated the villa which had everything we needed and more. Thanks for the lovely breakfast and baked goods. We loved the food, loved watching the chickens (and the roosters) – so relaxing... We stayed at a villa at the lovely Makayla Palms just recently. John & Rachel are great hosts who made us very welcome & were always available to advise re restaurants, trips etc. and do bookings. Rachel's home baking was a lovely touch as were the fresh fruit and flowers. The orientation that Rachel does is particularly appreciated for first... More

From parking our car in the space at the front of the gardens and being greeted by Rachel I was sure we'd made the right choice in staying here. The garden is beautiful, there's a great big beautiful gazebo and well looked after herb and vege garden all guests are welcome to use. The villa we stayed in was beautiful... More
