Pros: - Charming colonial cottage nestled in the himalayan foothills. - Stay here only if you want a B&B or homestay type of experience. - Good food Cons: - We travelled in November and temperatures dropped to 10 C. However, we were just given a small heater that simply couldnt keep up. It was even more chilly in common areas... More

Taradale lives up to it's promise of removing you from all attachments to urban closed dwellings and helps you harmonize with its magical spaces both within and outside. Food is the first thing that comes to mind on holidays and Taradale has an elegant little dining which does just that. The chef is always on his heels and makes it... More

A nice little property tucked in the hilly charm of Ramgarh. We went in the harvesting season when the orchards around it were laden with orange peaches. The food was like a home cooked food with a hilly flavor. Staff was very helpful. Only one thing, which one needs to be careful is that it is located on a steep... More

Taradale has always been a favourite getaway and we as a family always end up extending our stay and delaying our departure like children returning to school. The staff give great food that taste like home with all the add ons like great caramel custard etc. Onion soup is my favourite order with roast chicken - Ommi does it to... More

Pristine is the best way to describe this beautiful bungalow.. Clean rooms, obliging house help and an old world charm is ever prevalent ... To top it all is the view of a part of the Himalayas from your bedroom.. Would highly recommend visitors staying here...

Although my trip to Taradale was reduced to just 1 day due to personal reasons I thoroughly enjoyed the property for whatever time I could. Tucked away in the charming hills of Ramgarh this small yet beautiful property has an old world charm as well as scenic surroundings. Apart from the walk down (just 250 mts) ;) there was nothing... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taradale . The cottage is ideal for a family getaway and is very homely and comfortable . The view from the cottage is splendid. We saw the most amazing flowers around the cottage. The decor is very impressive with little details looked into. Kids loved the trek around the cottage and were busy exploring... More

Vacationed at Taradale cottage this July with family, and chose this place after reading reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. The place is marvelous. Its about a couple of kms down from main Ramgarh road and a small hike of a quarter kilometer to reach the resort, and has almost nothing near it. Which means no pollution, no... More

Taradale cottage is the perfect place for a weekend break from life!! It's a secluded little cottage in the middle of fruit orchards with a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley beneath. The service is very personal with a chef, a servant and a help lady running the show. It's like your own home, only with the luxury... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
WelcomHeritage Taradale Cottage was christened after the illustrious aristocrat & diplomat Major General 'Tara' Singh Bal, and belongs to his son Brigadier Amarjit Singh Bal. A five minutes easy downhill walk from the road leads you to the property which is reminiscent of the summer houses built during the British Raj. The Boutique Hotel WelcomHeritage Taradale Cottage is located 325 Kms from Delhi, and lies in the sleepy hamlet of Ramgarh in the north-eastern part of the Kumaon region of the Himalayas. This relatively undiscovered but increasingly popular destination is often termed as the fruit basket of the picturesque Uttarakhand state because of its sprawling peach, plum, apricot, apple & pear orchards. The beauty of Ramgarh and its surrounding majestic mountains, pristine Oak & Rhododendron forests, crisp cool air and vast clear skies attracted several industrial & royal houses to set up their estates here. The peace & tranquility of this place inspired the likes of Rabindranath Tagore who penned parts of his famous Gitanjali here. Narain Swami & Sri Aurobindo also founded Ashrams in the vicinity. The famous wildlife conservationist and writer Jim Corbett stayed here while en-route to bag one of the man-eating Tigers and has mentioned Ramgarh in one of his books. WelcomHeritage Taradale cottage is situated in a fairly secluded spot overlooking tree covered slopes and a verdant green valley or 'Dale' from which it derives the latter half of its name. A five minutes easy downhill walk from the road leads you to the property which is reminiscent of the summer houses built during the British Raj. The grey & white stucco facade, slanting tin roofs, bay windows, verandas & balconies replete with delicate Victorian trims lend an old world charm to this home away from home. The cottage is nestled in a small English garden, adjacent to a patch of stately Pine & Deodar trees overlooking the spectacular snow bound Himalayan peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul & Panchachuli. A quaint attic is amongst the 6 well appointed bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and modern comforts. Colonial furniture and tastefully done interiors, wooden ceilings and fireplaces in every room welcome you. Personalised and painstakingly done decor complete with old framed prints , family photos and fascinating antique bric-a-brac adorn the foyer, parlour & powder room. The Dining room offers simple but delectable Indian, Continental & Kumaoni cuisine to savour and pamper your taste buds. No drive in available. Five minutes comfortable downhill walk to the porch. ... more   less
