I came to Bosque de Paz on a photography workshop to capture the landscape, flora, and humming birds. I was not disappointed, but I received so much more. The preserve was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and an outdoor wonder. The rooms were comfortable, roomy, and clean. I cannot say enough about the hosts and staff. Our host and his wife welcomed... BDP is a delightful preserve and lodge, especially interesting for birders and photographers. It is quiet and comfortable, and the staff is very attentive. To me, the highlight was a bird-watching guided tour given by Kenneth, who also acts as the BDP "host/maitre d'" and part-time waiter. He has an amazing grasp of the birds in the area and was... BDP is truly an exceptional and unique natural travel experience for anyone adventurous and resourceful enough to reach it and drink it all in. Challenging to find, buried in the cloud forest outside Juan Castro Blanco NP just northeast of Zarcero, this admirable and invaluable preserve stuns from the moment you arrive at the welcome gate. Your hosts, Federico and... More

What a lovely experience at Bosque de Paz! Our rooms were lovely and private, almost like bungalows. The central eating area created a great atmosphere for our photo tour. Food was delicious and our host was most gracious. Peaceful. Otherworldly. The owners are very eco-conscious and have done a remarkable job of reforestation. They also feed the hummingbirds and we... I am a regular visitor to Costa Rica. Every year I visit some of my favorite places and try new ones. This past February, 2013, I visited Bosque de Paz for the first time. This lodge, located in a magnificent bucolic preserve, is efficiently managed by its owner, Mr. Federico Gonzalez Pinto and his wife Vanessa. This lodge is a... More

There is an air of retreat about the whole experience.A sense that you have escaped the cares of the world and are able to focus on what really matters, whatever that may be to the individual. The buildings are few in number and centre around the dining room, the accommodation rooms are just a few yards away. They are spacious and well furnished.There... More

This is a wonderful place in the mountains....the drive up to it is stunning. It is well run, the grounds are well tended and everywhere is very clean. The wildlife is good too...one can be eating breakfast in the dining room watching coatis and agoutis feeding close by. It is a very peaceful place and one feels "miles away from... More

This was certainly right for us. Good hiking right off the property and a beautiful, simple, natural space. I liked the architectural vibe-- exposed wood, exposed stone, high ceilings. The food was good and healthy and the staff was very friendly. We loved the rooms, especially the stone showers. It was kind of like a beautiful, well-equipped luxurious camp. I... More

I stayed here overnight while on a birdwatching tour and was most pleased with the stay. The room was simple but clean. The bed was comfortable for me -- I like my mattress a bit firm. Hummingbird feeders on the grounds attracted several species of hummingbird. But the highlight for me was the food. Meals were served in a glass-walled... More

This lodge was our choice for some cloud forest exploration on our recent trip to Costa Rica, instead of the standard Monteverde. It is an excellent example of an Eco lodge. Low impact buildings, well thought out and designed with minimum impact on the environment. The welcome was warm and all staff were very pleasant and had a good sense... More
