After several days in the heat and humidity of the lowland rainforest, it was a delight to experience the cool climate of the cloud forest, and the welcome we received at Bosque De Paz was exceptional. Frederico and Vanessa are charming, warm-hearted people, and perfect hosts. Their lodge is rustic, clean and comfortable; the food is delicious, traditional, and well... More

Bosque de Paz is a small ecolodge located in the cloud forest near Bajos del Toro. Frederico and Vanessa were very gracious hosts and we felt welcomed during our 3-day stay. The rooms are simple but clean. The rooms were tiled and fairly spacious. The beds and pillows were OK but not exceptional. There are 6 rooms downstairs and 6... More

We began our 20 day tour of Costa Rica with a two night stay at Bosque de Paz. Although the area was breathtakingly beautiful and serene, Bosque de Paz was the worst lodging experience of our entire trip - overpriced and disappointing. We stayed in room #1, which was comfortable, but the shower did not drain properly and within the... More

We spent two nights at Bosque de Paz as a last minute add on to a 2.5 week nature trip to Costa Rica and we are so glad we did. Bosque de Paz turned out to be our favorite lodge of the entire trip. The trails were pleasant, the lodge was beautifully cared for, the staff were all friendly and... More

This is a great place for birding and also to see some of the exotic mammals of Costa Rica. A lovely area, good accommodations and great trails. It is also only 1 1/2 hour drive from the international airport, so a good place to start or finish a trip to Costa Rica. More

Bosque de Paz is a great place to spend a couple days on a Costa Rican birding trip. It's easily the best place in the country to see Black Guan. The lodge has a pretty extensive set of trails and birding along the road outside of the lodge is also quite productive. We picked up a good number of birds... More

I spent 2 nights at Bosque de Paz in Feb. with some friends. Although it was dry season, we had several hours of heavy rain both days, but it didn't diminish the beauty and peaceful setting of the lodge. The food was outstanding, some of the best I've had in the country on four separate trips. The owners were very... More

We arrived during unrelenting torrential rains of 4 days duration. Because the rooms aren't heated (as is true in all of Costa Rica) we were afraid to get wet as we didn't really have warm clothes. We did do a mad dash to see the orchid trail. It did not disappoint. Phragepedilum Longifolium is all over the grounds. We spent... More

Coatis, agoutis, paca, hummingbirds, guan and other birds come to the food on the hotel's lawn. For those who prefer to find their own wildlife there is a choice of several trails in the hotel's extensive grounds. A stream runs through the property and the more energetic can walk to a waterfall. Basic maps help to self-guide around the trails,... More
