Looking for place to overnight south of Peterborough and discovered the Lion. Its a lovely old English pub/hotel, which is full of character having been built originally in 1492. I stayed overnight as a solo and took advantage of an upgrade from single to double at no extra cost. I had room 3 which was delightful as it had a... More

We booked our Dutch distbruitor in the hotel. He stated that it was one of the best hotels he had stayed in. I eat an evening meal and breakfast here which was 1st class and very good value for money. The service is second to name and a credit to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel/restaurant to anyone More

Reading the last review I would say immediately that the George Hotel across the road is over twice the price of the Lion - of course if you have an expense account that maybe ok but not if it is out of your own pocket. The overall experience of a 2 night stay at the Lion was brilliant - such... More

I stayed for one night on a business trip, I have also stayed at the George across the road and The Lion is certainly a poor relation. I thought it was rather expensive (£75) for what I got, the room was cold and the bedding didn't look, smell or feel terribly clean. It wasn't a terrible stay but I wouldn't... More

Stayed 1 night along with 3 adult members of my family along and a 3 week old baby, 7 year old and 15 year old. Staff were attentive and went out of their way to deal with our various needs. The rooms are a bit dated, but the friendly staff and wonderful character of the place easily made up for... More

Stayed here for a night while our son was at Papworth Hospital (about 20 mins away). Very nice room in the annexe but we were advised to stay in either room 1 or 6 next time as these had wonderful old features at no extra charge. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was fantastic, it was not... More

I stayed on business for one night Check in was fine and shown to a very large room with a big four poster bed (Room 1) Great location, with a view over to the Old Church and Buckden Towers The bedroom and bathroom was fine. Stayed here for one night as a couple in the annex - a good value £60 bed and breakfast for 2 (it was a weekend rate). We'd wanted a double but none was left so we had a twin. Large ground floor room with sofa in it - very comfortable beds and clean room. Hotel staff were very helpful and... More

First stayed here 13 years ago for my honeymoon and loved it. Returned many a time through the years and found that as it change owners it went down hill, not only in the decor but also the staff and the food. I still kept on going back as I have a soft spot for the place, but on my... More
