From the delicious restaurant-standard home-cooking (well done Jane) to the convivial conversation, beer and local liqueur (Michael's domain) you will not wish for a better place to stay. I would urge visitors to try out the hot-tub, even in frosty March it helped warm the proverbial cockles and ensured a good night's sleep in the well-furnished and comfortable bedroom. Breakfast... The hosts have gone the extra mile in figuring out how to make guests feel comfortable. Pleasant conversation, a homely feel and clean modern rooms in addition to very quiet surroundings contributed to a good nights sleep. A hearty breakfast tailored to your requirements and an insight into the wildlife that frequents the garden will set you up for the... More

If you're heading north for the Orkney ferry refresh yourself with an overnight stay just off the A9. Michael & Jane will make you most welcome, their facilities are first class & your choice of dinner, ordered in advance by email from an interesting menu, will set you up for the hot tub in the garden. What more could a body... What a lovely stay we had at Jane and Michael's fantastic bed and breakfast The Crossburn. Our hosts were absolutely delightful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We ( myself , my partner and my partners mother ) only stayed for one night and I would thoroughly recommend anyone considering booking here to go for it! And also book... More

This was our second visit to The Crossburn. Just completed Land's End to John O' Groats, this is 35 miles away from John O' Groats so is ideally situated for End to Enders who need a stop before the end. It is a wonderful place, spotlessly clean, wonderful hosts, the food is second to none and there is a hot... More

Both Jane and Michael have the all to rare ability of judging what is the right amount of interraction with the right amount of privacy. We were on a sponsored walk and stopped over for just 1 night but their hospitality should be a bench mark for all hotelleirs to be judged by. For those of you who read this... More

This is a fantastic B&B, welcoming hosts, spotlessly clean and comfortable facilities, nothing too much trouble, and I would recommend to anyone visiting Caithness. One tip - it is a spiral staircase up to the bedrooms - you may want to be aware.

Michael and Jane really are the perfect hosts, welcoming and attentive but respecting privacy. On our third visit we were very much treated like old friends, but on our first visit were welcomed just as enthusiastically. Michael and Jane aim to please and in this they certainly succeed, enabling their guests to have a relaxed, peaceful and most enjoyable stay.... More
