The hostel is placed in a stunning location in front of Loch Duich. The place is very charmeful. You can enjoy the beautiful view from your room and the calm & the silence. You can use this hostel as base-place in order to visit Eilean Donnan Castle and the Skye Island. Scotland is probably one of the best place i've... More

I stayed here for a hillwalking trip in September 2011. The hostel is in a stunning location on the edge of Loch Duich with wonderful views of the Five Sisters and lots of opportunity for seeing wildlife even just from the front door. It was a really good base for hillwalking, and if I'd stayed for longer Glencarron and Skye... More

We stayed at the Ratagan SYHA hostel, Glenshiel, Scotland, from the 6th to the 8th July 2011. My party consisted of two adults and two children. We arrived at 1530hrs on the 6th July to find that the reception was closed. However a message was posted inviting guests to make themselves a cup of tea/coffee and wait in the lounge.... More

A typical Youth Hostel with a very untypical outlook. Fantastic spot to spend a bit of time More

This hostel is in a gorgeous location right on Loch Duich and looking out at the 5 Sisters of Kintail. The hostel is very homey and pleasant. I would highly recommend this place. More

Australian couple managing the hostel were very friendly and helpful. The hostel sits on the loch viewing across to the mountains. It's a very quiet spot and absolutely beautiful. I was in a full 10-bed women's dorm - no place but the floor to put your pack and. Basic hostel accommodation - bathroom down the hall but there was a... More

There simply cannot be a better location to stay if visiting the area - fantastic views to the 5 sisters, porpoises and otters passing by in the loch - HOWEVER - the service can at best be described as mixed. My friend and I arrived at lunchtime to be told by the hostel warden abruptly that the hostel was closed... More

Paid for four nights accommodation at SYHA Ratagan. Ended up leaving after two nights. No room in dorm for my clothes, etc. No room in fridges/kitchen shelves for my food. Place overcrowded. Got allocated 10th bed in a 10 bed dorm - a room that should have 6 beds at most given its size. Snoring was unbelievably loud. No sleep.... More

Just a lovely place to stay. Incredible views, walking, sunsets, wildlife. Like staying in a holiday cottage! Very cosy sitting area to pass evenings. To take full advantage sit on one of the benches in the garden looking out over the loch, beware the multitude of bitey ones who will be taking full advantage of you. Only drawback - our... More

Where else can you have an uninterrupted view of the Five Sisters of Kintail and a porpoise swimming up the loch just a few yards away, so close you can hear it breathe? Having decided to give our waistlines a rest and self cater for one night, we had a room to ourselves with a view to die for. Kitchen... More
