Upon arriving at Voyageurs lodge and cookhouse, every person on staff was extremely friendly. This past weekend was the first time there for ice climbing and because of the season, we were the only out-of-towners there. Despite coming back from climbs towards the end of their business hours, the staff stayed late to make sure we had a nice hearty... More

We stayed only 2 days but we were thrilled to have found this place. The rooms are cozy, clean and well layed out with nice beds. The view is to die for being across the road from Batchwana bay and the beach. The restaurant was superb and made some of the best whitefish I have ever eaten. Every single staff... More

We've been here for ATV trips several times. This year (2011) was exceptional. Return late, after the restaurant was closed, we were thrilled to find dinner for 4 hungry guys in our room. Owners Frank and Gail and their staff obviously went one step farther than most innkeepers. Many thanks guys. If you are looking for an amazing stay and... More

We had stayed here many years ago and thought it would be fun to stay here again for old time sake. We were on our way to Northern Ontario to hunt bear and had such a good time I wished we could stay longer. We made sure to stop in again on our way home. It is right on Lake... More

If you don't want a generic Sault hotel - the Voyageur is a basic but clean and friendly but offers it all. Well situated if you are looking for a stop between Toronto and Thunder Bay and want a bit of a retro motel/cabin experience. The beach is amazing on a warm summer day - a hop across the highway... There's a sandy beach right across the highway from the motel (and the highway's not that busy); it's a great beach for young children, with the water increasing in depth only gradually and, on the day we were there, not a trace of the waves you expect to find on less sheltered parts of Superior. The rooms at the Voyageur... More

As a child, my family would stay at a non-descript motel on Hwy 17 at Batchawana Bay on our travels to Winnipeg, and as an adult, my husband and I decided to recreate the same trip. But no matter how I tried, I couldn't find that same motel across from Batchawana Bay so called Sault Ste Marie's tourism office in... More

The room was clean but on the small side and not laid out well. The TV was hard to see being located to the left of the bed. The space was further compromised by really nice natural pine furniture, which was large and heavy. It had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and internet. The microwave door was difficult to open;... We stayed one night during a two-week tour around Lake Superior by bicycle. We arrived at the Voyageur after a 100 mile day on the bikes, but invigorated with spectacular scenery, bright sunny skies and perfect weather. Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the vibe of this place. It was a Friday night and the restaurant, which is... More
