We stayed one night recently on a spur-of-the-moment trip having not booked ahead. The hotel could be lovely, it's in a great position, right opposite the castle, and it seemed quite busy, with a birthday party in the restaurant in the evening (we didn't eat in there, so can't comment on the food). The floors up to our room were... More

Agree with reviewers who say this is a place with lots of untapped potential - spacious bedroom, which I found comfortable, good sized en suite, but tea and coffee in the room of the bog-standard variety, and no biscuits. The whole place felt like it had given up. The tasty breakfast is what rescued this review from falling below average,... More

This hotel needs a complete refurbishment from top to bottom, house keeping very poor, bedroom very cramped and dated, thread bare carpets in corridors, cracked window panes, shower head missing. We would not recommend this hotel. More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sun Hotel, the view from our bedroom window was of the Castle at Walkworth, the room was lovely, very clean, en suite area also well equiped and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful and there was a lot of choice, nothing was too much for the friendly and helpful staff. Evening meal was excellent,... More

Having family in Warkworth we travel over fairly often, this time we decided to stay in The Sun. Though I've been in a few times I've never stayed before. The entrance & reception is okay a little bit dated but does the job. The staff were courteous and gave what was expected. The room (2) was fine, nice and comfortable... More

Stayed here with my fiancee one night while driving around the UK. The room was nice, clean, and had a good view of the castle. The food in the restaurant was descent enough, nothing to write home about though. More

An expensive hotel for a very second rate experience. For £85 pounds per night, I would expect some kind of customer service. Cold rooms, I was given a radiator key and had to bleed the radiators myself to get some heat. No veggie breakfast. Very poor bed (a very thin mattress where you felt the hard bed under it). Everything... More

Arrived on Sunday after emailing hotel telling them we were getting married the day before so would be happy to upgrade if one was available. We were given the key to room 14, and I couldn't believe what we had been given. It was a pokey room, pitch black due to 1 tiny sash window. Wallpaper coming off ceiling and... More

This hotel is 'tired' with sash windows that sometimes have to be propped open with pieces of wood, floors that creak and facilities that could do with a makeover. Food below average (better places in the town). Overpriced for what it offers. Its position is the best thing about it. More
