Paul P's City Tips

  • The bus service is very good, but make sure you have exact change. There's also an all-day ticket option.
  • Although tipping is not expected at most cafes, it is customary to tip 10% in restaurants.
  • When you take a taxi, it is common (although not expected) practice to round up to the nearest pound.
  • It's not advised that you talk about Scottish football or Scottish politics!
  • Glasgow is generally a very relaxed place when it comes to dining.

    Paul P Says:

Glasgow's largest park is very popular park among runners and anyone else wanting to enjoy the beautiful scenery: gardens, woods, ponds, and even a mansion! This place is a wonderful mix of meticulously-tended shrubs and flowerbeds and shady forest paths that feel anything but urban. And you're sure to spot some of the park's most famous residents: the highland cattle!

    Paul P Says:

Formerly part of a large estate, Bellahouston is now a beautiful public park with lots of space for walking, running or just relaxing on a bench. It's also home to sports facilities and several cultural buildings, including the contemporary art exhibit centre, The House for an Art Lover. In summer, the park occasionally transforms into a major concert venue for big musical acts.

    • Peace and Quiet Seeker
    • Nature Lover
    Tips
    • If you want to enjoy this park as a natural area, check online to make sure there are no concerts on the books!
