What to do in Washington, DC with a toddler
Murky Coffee for great coffee for mom and muffin for daughter, lots of fun stalls to walk through and a flea market.
Not to be missed - the insect room (where kids can hold and pet various bugs brought out by the museum staff), the giant stuffed animals and the interactive Discovery area for some hands-on learning
Near the Smithsonian Castle - a fun ride and only $2/person - with lovely views of the National Mall
Stop in for lunch - delicious pizzas and miniburgers with fried onions. Mmm!
The National Zoo is great! It's free and there's a petting zoo at one end. Lots of fun for a two year old. Check the zoo website to see what new animals have arrived - there are usually some babies on view.
Dinner at Lebanese Taverna in Woodley Park - a short walk from the zoo with decent prices and lots of things for a two year old to enjoy - especially the hummus! It's the best around.
