Here's a list of places you can reach in max 1hr 30 mins by train from Milano and which are very nice to see
Nice historic town between Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia. Home of the Gonzaga family, hometown of Virgilio, with some wonderful historical bulidings. It sits on a river and has some great views.
World capital of Violins and also home of the famous Torrone. Wonderful cathedral and great food
Bergamo Alta is extremely nice and charming, with its nice cobbled streets and wonderful medioeval buildings
Nice midsized town with a wonderful historical centre. Home of the famous tortellini. Has a very famous theatre renowned for its opera season.
Wonderful midsized town on the Adige river, it's the place where Romeo and Juliet takes place. The Arena is a large roman amphiteater which hosts a well known opera season and also some rock and pop concerts in summer. Among the tourist destinations the famous Juliet's house (it's not real, of course).
Nice little village on the Garda lake, very charming and relaxing, with a very well known spa. Sirmione is the place where Catullo had his villa and where he wrote some of his most famous poems.
