Banff offers fine dining, good hiking, canoeing, shopping and of course phenomenal scenery.

  • 1. Maple Leaf Grill, Banff, AB

    Superb restaurant for a special evening. Be sure to try the bison filet or one of their scrumptious steaks.

  • 2. Giorgio's Banff, AB

    An Italian restaurant that is really a cut above the usual. The 4 of us each had something different and every dish was superb.

  • 3. Coyote Deli and Grille, Banff, AB

    An unusual southwestern restaurant. Their southwestern style calzone is worth trying. Reservations are a must.

  • 4. Ticino, Banff, AB

    A swiss style restaurant. Swiss dishes were good, but would have been even better if they had been served with the traditional plates and special burners. Nevertheless, the raclette and beef fondue were delicious. The chocolate fondue was excellent. Reserve a window table if you can. Service was excellent.

  • 5. Banff Springs Golf Course

    A very expensive golf course but it has gorgeous scenery and challenging play.

    Excellent service and amazing views. The buffet breakfast is expensive but worth it.The concierge was very helpful in suggesting restaurants.

  • 7. Lake Minnewanka
    Lake Minnewanka, Banff

    Beautiful, beautiful scenery. The hike to Stewart Canyon from the lake,is reputedly beautiful but was closed when we visited. A boat tour around the lake was well worth the time and money. They take reservations only for groups, but don't usually fill up.

  • 8. Sulfur Mountain Gondola

    An expensive, but beautiful ride to the top of a mountain overlooking Banff. The scenery from the top is amazing. For the really energetic, hike from the top of the gondola to the top of an adjacent peak via a boardwalk and stairs.

  • 9. Bow Falls

    Beautiful waterfalls in the middle of town. A delightful place to visit.

  • 10. Lake Louise
    Lake Louise, Banff National Park

    Lake Louise is a destination in its own right, but is also an easy day trip from Banff. The scenery is gorgeous. Boats are available for rent. Make a short side trip to Moraine Lake for more unbelievable scenery. Good hikes are found at both sites
