On approach to the old Santo Domingo – San Pedro de Macorís road (Mella Highway) we will come across imposing sugar cane shoots. The atmosphere is taken over by a sweet-smelling aroma, and perfumes passers-by with a delightful mellificent smell. For centuries, sugar mills have long been established in this area. Witness the traditional way artisan farmers ploughed the cane fields. Legendary Major League Baseball players are proudly Dominicans. Get a chance to interact with the amazing history of these legends. Journey through the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox enrollment camps; get a sense of the recruitment process firsthand. Barge in a typical rural home and evidence the embodiment of the unmistakable Dominican hospitality, which characterizes them as people. Passionate novelesque adventures will become unbridled before your eyes, penetrating a heavenly stratosphere, where nature coexists in concert with the conquest of one-of-a-kind experiences.Indulge your taste buds with eccentric Caribbean flavors. Caress your lips with juicy tropical fruit slices, gratify your senses with the pleasing scent of freshly-roasted coffee, and mesmerize your palate with a chunk of organic cocoa. Secluded in the province of Monte Plata, a precious gem lies hidden. A village where a land’s religious values were first indoctrinated, and steward of infinite natural beauties.Stopover in one of the most immaculate municipalities in the Dominican Republic, and be a spectator to one of the most soulful sunsets in the calm of twilight. Discover the picturesque city of Bayaguana. We will attend a local public market; an assorted selection of locally-made products is on display. The incessant bustle of everyday life, blending with the voices in the background. The pretentious haggling and low-pitched whistling of an exotic birdlife damping the honking horns of an ever-increasing agglomerated traffic. Visit Santo Cristo de los Milagros Sanctuary. A statue of a Crucified Christ, carved in wood, measures approximately over a meter. Its construction is finished, and facial features are faultless. The figure originally did not have a cross and, by way of Christian piety, one was elaborated with native wood. The image of Santo Cristo de los Milagros has been adored since the 17th Century. Its architectural style is reminiscent of the colonial period. The church of Bayaguaa was built in 1968.The modern-day sanctuary was constructed in 1789. Subsequently, its tower and atrium were finished. Declared part of the country’s cultural heritage, and center of pilgrimage and plenary indulgences in the year 2000. Examine its rich history; tradition has it that the Christ was found prior to the devastations of Osorio, on the banks of Bayaja Beach (nowadays Bayaguana). Believed to have had belonged to a shipwreck, tossed ashore by the ship’s captain, invoking the Holy Spirit to protect them from the storm. As we retreat to Ojo de Agua Ranch, we will have a chance to be in communion with an alluring natural world. A delicious typical lunch will be served. Savor a traditional Dominican dish, commonly known as "la bandera dominicana," consisting of more (rice with beans), meat or fish and salad. Prior to heading back to the hotel, we will go to Ojo de Agua River. Awaken your senses plunging yourself in its refreshing icy waters.
