The gallery itself is a Soho style, museum-like 3,000+ square foot edifice with 14 foot high walls, a bar, a media center and a restored 1911 Grotrian grand piano on which free mini-concerts are offered. DM Weil, the owner and artist, is an accomplished abstract painter whose paintings have been called, “bold, colorful and deceptively complex” by Contemporary Art Collector.“We want to give visitors an art experience they won’t soon forget,” says Ken Aspin, the gallery manager. “We like to start folks off with a complimentary glass of wine or a mug of cappuccino, maybe something decadent from one of the local bakeries. Our visitors love it, and it’s a great way to help support local businesses.”“When you step through the double doors of the gallery and are confronted by all the eye-popping color,” Ken continues, “we hope people are absolutely blown away by DM’s art. And whether or not they decide to purchase one of DM’s originals, or the more reasonably priced giclees (prints on canvas), we guarantee they won’t leave empty handed, because we are giving away a free signed print to every first time visitor through the end of the summer of 2011.”For those interested in the artistic process, DM Weil herself is on hand to recount the inspiration for her paintings, and to offer tours of her adjacent studio, where visitors can see works in progress.“I feel so blessed to get to spend my time creating art”, says DM Weil, “and as a way of giving back, I donate a portion of each original painting sold at the gallery to Manger-Weil House, the 8,000 square foot orphanage in Mekelle, Ethiopia my family and I helped to build.” « less

In 1678, a small band of French-speaking Huguenots set out to create a place of their own. They named that community New Paltz. Today, six-acre this National Historic Landmark District preserves their charming stone houses, all of which are open to the public. Central to the site is the DuBois Fort Visitor Center, built in 1705. Today it houses exhibition galleries, a Museum Shop and offers a shady spot to sit and enjoy. Grounds open and special programs offered year-round. Walk-in guided tours offered May through October every day except Wednesday. Also offered on weekends in November and December. « less
