It's worth the climb up the steep stairway to see what's inside this lovely Italianate home built in 1858: an actual lead mine, Civil War memorabilia, items honoring Ulysses S. Grant (including an original painting depicting Robert E. Lee's surrender to Grant), plus other historical articles from Galena and Jo Daviess County.

We enjoyed sitting on their large wrap around porch sipping a glass of wine while gazing out on the hilly countryside. Last weekend there was a wedding taking place as well as a bicycle race with part of the course passing the winery. Very festive atmosphere that we lucked into.
Galena Cellars also has a wonderful gift shop downtown on Main Street which is fully stocked with all th...

"I live in Galena, and in my family, I am surrounded by knitters. When it comes to gifts, classes, great and unusual/rare yarns, and general supplies, FiberWild has been just great. If you are a knitter, you'll love it. If you are a non-knitter, like me, but need to find gifts for the knitters in you..."r life, the staff will help craft wonderful solutions. A great resource with really knowledgeable, helpful staff. Thanks FiberWild!!!
