We had the most amazing 3 days at Shamwari.
Stayed at Bayethe, please see my detailed review.
Our experience was absolutely incredible, beyond our expectations.
Ruan was our guide, he is exceptionally knowledgeable on all aspects of wildlife & nature, it was our great pleasure to have had 6 varied drives with him, we could not have wished for more, including all the laughs we had along the way!
Ruan is also a very talented photographer, he is a tremendous asset to both Shamwari & Bayethe.
    Hope to return one day.

We went on a tour with African experience from port Elizabeth cruise terminal. It was a very very hot 🥵 day. The predators and herds are separated due to space I guess. The roads off the main trail are very bumpy indeed ! Our tour guide was great. The cafe was good very friendly efficient service

The accommodation of the lighthouse villa was exceptional and extraordinary! It couldn't have been more perfect for our Honeymoon. Lin, the manager and host does an amazing job with her team at making sure all your needs are met and your stay is comfortable. Real value for money. The location and views from the villa are unparalleled. Definitely would recommend as a honeymoon or romantic destination with your partner - the whole team really went out of their way to make our stay as memorable and as special as possible.

We visited four game preserves, and this was by FAR our favorite. Here's why:
Our guide (she was a young British lady - wish I could recall her name!) was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the animals, the history, the terrain... clearly she was passionate about her field! Also this is a very large preserve, so we were able to see so many animals, including elephants, giraffe, and lions! The tour vehicle was in good condition (compared to others we were on!) and we while it was still "rustic" and "authentic," it was not so jarring as to be uncomfortable. Truly if you can only visit one, make it this game drive. It was our very best!

It’s very clear that the wellness of the birds here is a priority. A very small sanctuary hospital 🏥 with staff that volunteer to help.
Go and see the beach and lighthouse too which is up the road

We were brought to Sardinia bay as part of our tour of port Elizabeth. Wild side of the peninsula our guide said. Unfortunately the barrier wasn’t safe to get down to the beach 🏖 the day we were here. Quiet on a weekday and very hot in January.

We were passing through PE and were looking for something fun to do. Unfortunately, we weren't able to book a tour of the factory (be sure to call several days in advance) as we called the morning of and they did not have any availability. That said, it is still fully worthwhile to just come and visit the museum which is free to the general public. They have a lot of old VWs on display and some interesting exhibits on the history of the factory, South Africa, and VWs in general. The museum is showing its age, to some degree, and some of the interactive exhibits didn't work. There is also an upstairs area which is great for kids as it allows them to test their driving skills, take a quiz about South Africa, and draw their own VW models, etc. It was fun poking around and taking fun photos in front of our favorite cars.

Great walks but minimal supporting information. River Walk quite nice but not suitable for wet conditions. The Protea are abundant and stunning

Free access to the bridge on well-prepared boardwalks and pedestrian tracks from the services area on the highway. The only concern is that the pedestrian parts of the bridge are very narrow and close to traffic speeding past which is a little disconcerting. The bridge is an impressive piece of engineering and the gorge below impressive. Well worth a short walk.

My kids love Holmeleigh Farmyard, we've been many times and it never gets old. The toasted sandwiches are always a hit.

Went to watch the 20XXX cricket, it is the best place to watch cricket in South Africa. The brass band keeps the vibe going .
