It's still well-known for beautiful pottery in the Ottoman style and for the ancient walls that still mostly surround the city. It's a few hours' drive from Istanbul, but the trip can be made shorter—and more entertaining—by hopping a ferry to Yalova and driving from there. « less

The Sculpture was produced by Diabas stone taken out from Gemlik. The sculptor reflects Ottoman stone architecture characteristics by using two thick and three thin lines while treating the surface. There is no connection between kinetic stones above and stable ones below. 7 and 8 tons of kinetic stones are moving only by balancing stones’ gravity centers and power of water pressure as a result of sculptor’s engineering calculations integrated into his art. « less
