Info at In Your Pocket is a good summary. Museum website is Flash-enabled - doesn't appear to have any English pagesWe visited August 2009.Fascinating museum. 10 kn admission included an excellent guided tour, our guide spoke good English. Picked up a lot of Croatian history during our visit. Torpedo display particularly interesting - torpedoes were invented by a UK-Italian partnership in Rijeka (Google Whitehead-Luppis). Strongly recommended.

"Katja our tour guide from tours-in-split was able to accommodate a fantastic highlight. Do Split and in your way to Togir tell Katja to brief on the highlights of Salonae Roman Ruins...."
"I went with my friend on the round trip Split to Split trip aboard the Amadeus. It ranks among the top weeks of my life. We met amazing people, saw beautiful islands and Ports (new place everyday), swam all over the Adriatic... I can't express enough how fun this was. The breakfast and lunches were ..."included and the daily two or three course lunches were delicious. I will say that if you don't like to party, the Amadeus may not be the ship for you-this particular ship has a night club space atop it, so we were the party ship. If you like things a little tamer, still sail with Sail Croatia, just maybe request a tamer boat. Our ship sailed with three other ships all week, so we met tons of amazing new friends while experiencing the sea, the history, the Ports, the sunshine, the culture. Go. Do it. worth every Penny (who is the best rep in the world, btw). Thanks for everything, Sail Croatia! Amadeus Amadeus!

"This place is a hidden gem. If you are interested in archaeology at all, I would highly recommend the Split Archaeological Museum. It is less then a 10 minute walk from Diocletin's palace, but we were the only people in the museum for the 2 hours we were there. It has a lovely collection of artifact..."s from Paleolithic through the Bronze, Roman and Christian ages and it is a very manageable size so you can see it all in 2 hours. The outside exhibit has some interesting statues, sarcophagi and mosaics. It's a great way to get away from the crowds while in Split.
