The best time to visit the Summer Palace is usually between May and October, but sometimes I like to take a walk on its vast grounds on a sunny winter day. Even though I have been here several times before, I still find myself captivated by the grandeur and richness of the architecture, the massive size, and the ancient pavilions, palaces, temples, the paintings of the long corridor, bridges, Longevity Hill, the lake, and more.

Beautiful artistry, especially without all the tools and engineering knowledge of today. It sits within a temple complex, which is located in a large park. Lots of signage to explain the history and past usage of the various structures.

Quite a large place. The temple buildings were lovely.
    Cost 25CNY entrance.
After visiting a lot of temples on our 13 stops throughout China, whilst I did enjoy having a wander through, I did think other temples I had visited were better.

would rate Tiananmen Square differently based on the time of year. During the eight warmer months, I would rate it as "Excellent, a must-see." But, during the other four months, my rating would be "Very Good." It's mostly just a cold, barren area of concrete during the colder months. However, it is the history of the square that is significant, and that stays the same throughout the year.

Jingshan Park is renowned for its artificial hill, constructed from soil excavated during the construction of the Forbidden City's palace moat. From the hilltops, you can enjoy great city views.

I’ve been to the other parts of the Great Wall; they have many more tourists and seem much more touristy than this section.
This almost feels like Great Wall Light.
It took 1.5 hours by private car to arrive at this section from downtown BJ, (7:30am – 9:05am on a Sunday) we spent about 1.5-2 hours exploring and walking the wall, taking photo’s and then headed back to the car through the little village. Bought drinks, fruit and some local snacks and headed back into the city.
There were water activities and other things happening, but my friends just wanted to experience seeing the wall and walking on it. It was perfect.
I preferred this section of the wall to the others I’ve been too.
