What travellers are saying
- DaveSheffield, UK46 contributionsYou can park for free at the Taupo end near the spa thermal park.. great walk along the river, quite steady with a few steepish bits but well worth it at the end, about 3hr round tripWritten 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pam MDenver, CO356 contributionsHighly recommend this strange activityâwatching a scheduled release of water from a damâwhich fills the gorge below with rushing aqua water. We viewed from the car bridge but shouldâaâ gone up to the viewing platform about 0.5 km downriverâoh well, learn from our mistake!Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael CDerby, UK2,011 contributionsWe were lucky enough to stay at a hotel on the shore of this beautiful lake. The views across the lake to snow-capped mountains are stunning. Close to our hotel thermal streams were feeding hot water into the lake which we found to be fascinating.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah CAshtead, UK1,290 contributionsWe spent a while here watching other people launch themselves from the bungee platform and then walking down the steep cliff path to the rapid river -where groups were kayaking.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah CAshtead, UK1,290 contributionsAlways eerie and somewhat other-worldy, this was a fascinating geothermal park. You can wander around at your own pace, sticking to the path is essential as rocks and ground spit and hiss and bubble inches from your feet, with the fleeing that the terrain is in constant fluxWritten 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - joanna659Brisbane, Australia14 contributionsBeautiful hand blown glass pieces, felt it was a little bit of an ask to have to pay to watch the glass blowing process. Have been to see several glass blowers in Australia and never been asked to pay to watch them, I feel like when you watch them work you're involved in the process and can really appreciate how much work and love goes into each piece. Would have loved to have some spare $$ to buy a bigger piece .Written 19 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patsy_nzPalmerston North, New Zealand208 contributionsThis place is now a âmustâ whenever we are in the area. The art is breathtakingly beautiful, the food is delicious. Hard to pick a favourite option but the scrambled eggs are textbook perfection, the French toast is divine.
You wonât mind taking a wee detour to get here, and if youâre headed south use it as an excuse to try the western road!Written 13 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is an easy short trip that you can do with family and friends on a good sunny day. The cruise at 1.30pm include a short demonstration of trout fishing. We didnât catch any, but it was still a nice experience which ended with the crew handing out samples of smoke trout fish from their previous trip.
If I may comment, the commentary (which was very interesting) was too loud inside the boat. Other than that, itâs highly recommended.Written 18 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DarthgeloDoha, Qatar39 contributionsOrdered deep fried calamari and half kilo of prawns in garlic butter, and they were huge! The aioli dip for calamari is great, but the dip for the prawn needs a little tweak, so i decided to mix it together and it tasted better.
The service was fast even with many tables were occupied during lunch. The host (Rachael) was very accommodating and
Recommended to go for outside tables as you will have a view of the water from Huka falls as well the Huka jet.Written 24 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
